Just a reminder, if you are a franchise supporter, not all franchises in SA are managed the same. I took my wife out for lunch, and after arriving, I am trying to order some starters. The waiter doesn't listen to but half of what I am saying to him, he runs off to sit another group of people, he was so busy he absolutely lost track of who he needed to attend to next. This being the case, we found ourselves wanting to just pay for our starter and leave. Because we would wait and wait. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. But after it took them 1 hour and 20 minutes to prepare pasta, fish, and prawns, I was rather fed up. Food arrives, and trout could have been better. They have a wood oven there, they can open up the foil and give it a nice wood fire searing, the pasta was terrible, penne not firm, small amount of the stewed meat, and acidic sauce, the prawns and chips were not up to standard. I feel that you are going to carry a franchise name, and it is to be a name that is well known. It ought to be your first goal to keep that standard. All in all, I spent R1300 for some terrible cocktails and bad food. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone who actually cares about customer service and quality for what you pay for. Would...

I was very disappointed by my experience today. It all comes down to ethics and integrity. I expect the waiter who tells you "my name is 'blah, blah', to be the one who critically inspects the quality and correctness of the food he/she will be taking to the table. My wife I ordered an expensive dessert called Pear Almondine, and judging by the description of what we could expect, we were eager to try it out. What arrived was not remotely near the their promised fare. Upon discussion with the manager, he confirmed the there was a 'mistake' in the kitchen...and thát I can understand. But, I ask you "where does ethics and integrity kick in"? ~ why was this mistake allowed to be delivered to our table?! ~ why were we not compensated there-and-then for this error?! ~ why are we told that "next time" they'll make it up to us?! ...I'll tell you why...."because management are nót managing their enterprise properly ~ their waiters need more intensive training, ~ and the managers need to raise their game by doing more than just apologizing for the mistake. FIX THE MISTAKE IN A TANGIBLE WAY ...if you want the client to come back to...

From a 5 star rating 11 months ago to barely 2 stars. The good was good as always, but the service shocking compared to my previous experience. My 1st coffee arrived promptly. My food also. Ordered the 2nd cup, waited over 15 minutes with no sight of my waitress. Eventually asked another waiter for my bill. Waited another 8 minutes or so. Here my 2nd coffee arrived. Being polite I drank it. Packed up my laptop, and waited another 6 minutes or so without seeing my waiter. Eventually she emerged from the kitchen chewing like a cow, chatting to other waiters as well as I presume a manager standing at the kitchen counter. Eventually made her way to my table, I asked for the bill. She promptly delivered the bill, and yes, 12 MINUTES passed before she came to take the payment. 12 minutes! Being very apologetic made no difference as now I was watching how incompetent this server is. Not once was I approached my the manager (this was always the norm I believe to do rounds and make sure customers are satisfied). I think the owners should take a hard look at this message at how great this restaurant was and how bad...

Looking for good coffee, light snack (or full on meal), Doppio Zero is ideal. Recently opened (Q4 2020), ideally located for us from Irene/Pierre ban Ryneveld, we opted to do lunch there. Clean, C19 in full swing, tables sanitised before sitting down, attentive staff, friendly and attended to my requests. Drinks arrived, Espresso with a shot of hot water on the side. Lovely coffee, but cold. Asked for another, requested that the Barista/Coffee Maker heat up the cup first (thick sidewalls) before adding the Espresso. This was duly done, my day was made. Suggest the floor manager ensure that it is done routinely going forward. Great eye catching crockery, but the thick walls of the cup soak up the heat fast. Lunch was light, well presented and tasty. Will gladly return again. On exiting the Castle Gate Centre, noticed parking for both the infirm and mothers/families using prams. Ever tried squeezing a pram between two cars, seating the infant, closing the door, pushing the pram in reverse into a busy parking area before turning it around so that you can proceed? Well done Castle Gate and Doppio Zero.

If you are looking for some tasty Italian food (and more!) you can give Doppio Zero - located at the Castle Gate Shopping Centre (which I reviewed separately) - a try. They have a wide variety of options on their menu ranging from pastas to tapas, burgers and more. I went for the Linguini pasta with calamari and chorizo which was very tasty, but could be a bit too spicy for some. The restaurant has indoor as well as outdoor (covered) seating areas where you can relax, and is appropriately spaced as per Covid-19 regulations. One of the great things is their outside tables which have a clear view of the large kids play area (located in the middle of the centre), making this perfect for parents to relax while the kids are entertained. Unfortunately when we visited they didn't have a liqour license yet, but if you plan on visiting (and they still don't have a license) you are welcome to bring your own drinks. Our waiter was friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was pretty busy so if you are planning to visit try to make a reservation.

We had breakfast here the previous Saturday. The place had a very beautiful interior and just overall stunning. The waiter who helped us was Kelvin, and he was one of the best waiters we had have! He provided top-notch service - attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable! We each order a coffee, we were 7 people so just image how hard it is to balance all of that on one tray. I myself am also a waiter so I know how hard it is to balance that many coffees!! We told him that he could place the tray on our table so that he doesn’t struggle. After he gave us our coffees we saw some of the waiter were rude to him about that we he put his tray on our table. This is unacceptable! Especially after we told him he could! But Further than that the food was very delicious- a very reasonable price and portion! I would recommend this place! But managers please talk to your waiters so that they are not so rude to each other, they are supposed to be a team.
