This friendly Guesthouse in the north of George caters mainly to business visitors but is good value for tourists to The rooms surround three sides of a central grassy area while on the fourth side is an attractive pond feature, spacious and interesting thatched dining-cum-sitting room and a very small swimming pool. The sitting room contains a large TV, assorted animal heads, African artwork and memorabilia. The coffee machine in the dining area makes excellent coffee!||||We had room 3 which had the advantage of having no one on one side of us. However, we have to agree with another reviewer that when it gets hot, as there is no A/C, you have to open the windows and doors, which could cause privacy issues. This wasn't a problem for us in room 3. Although we had one of the biggest rooms, the bed was very small and we felt the room had too much furniture, making it feel a bit cramped. For instance, a table and two chairs could be removed as there was also a desk. In comparison the bathroom was huge with both a bath and shower but strangely, nowhere to put our washing kits so they ended up in the bath.||||Hannalise, the owner, was very friendly and helpful and she gave us some money off vouchers to a local restaurant, the fat fish, which we would also recommend. Read moreMountain view Guest house brings peace and tranquillity right from the moment you drive through the gates. The friendly owners makes you feel right at home from the first greeting. Rooms are comfortable and a choice of rooms with a shower or bath or both is available. The dining room/ lounge is comfortable, elegant with a collection of memorabilia that brings back lots of memories. If you are not one for eating out, at a little extra (well worth it) they have a chef on the premises that not only supplies breakfast but the most amazingly prepared and presented dinners. Portions are enough to feed even the biggest hunger and everything is fresh. They also have a selection of alcoholic beverages, but you are welcome to bring you own to the dinner table if you wish.||||Mountain Dew Guest House was really worth every minute spent there and I will recommend them anytime. ||||Thank you...
Read moreThe guesthouse is clean and well maintained. However, given that guests sit outside their rooms that are situated around a central lawn area, you cannot avoid them staring at you when you leave or enter. Even though Hannelie promised that the guesthouse would be quiet, we were woken very early by other guests leaving and dogs barking in the area. If you want privacy and quiet, this is not the place. The rooms are adequate but for a bit extra you can get better value for money and a more enjoyable stay. Rather skip over this one and a opt for a lovely four star guesthouse...
