Burgundy Restaurant — Restaurant in Overstrand Local Municipality

We were a table of 3 ladies that lunched at your restaurant yesterday the 07/09/2025 at 12h00. We ordered 3 cappuccinos to drink and 3 Chicken schnitzel burgers. Our waitress Esra was very friendly. The cappuccinos as well as the food left little to be desired and fabulously overpriced. Our cappuccinos were cold, the whipped cream was not fresh and it was served in a small coffee cup - all for R40.00 The menu was not appealing - we eventually decided on the safest option of the Chicken burger. It came with mushroom sauce but was somewhat dry. The crumbed chicken on the burger seemed to be that pressed chicken breast, which was not fried properly, it was pale on the outside. The chips were ok, loaded with a lot of ketchup and the onion rings were oily. All for a whooping R195.00. We were disappointed but were not in the mood to moan. We ate it as we were hungry. On second thought we should have said something and not just accept it as it came....in fact we should not have eaten there after the very disappointing cold cappuccinos and after viewing the menu - which we found horribly expensive. We did not order any other drinks and left after a bill of R780.00 including a tip of R75.00 We got home and shortly thereafter my mom was feeling ill. She had a hot cup of coffee when we got home and was nauseous and light headed later on in the evening. Not our recommendation, next time we will try the place next door. Hi I generally tend to avoid negativity but I would like to make a few comments, even though it is over two months since we were at your restaurant. We had heard such good reviews about The Burgundy so booked in advance for brunch on Sunday the 21st March 2021 to celebrate my Dad's 95th birthday. We were six guests and I had asked for an inside table for my parents' sake. We were welcomed and placed at an inside table which was one of the closest tables near to the coffee machine. As can be expected my Dad is fairly hard of hearing so it was impossible to have a conversation with him involved as the coffee grinders were very noisy at our table. Two of us ordered croissants with bacon and egg. I ordered a chicken mayo toasted sandwich. When the orders arrived for four of us the remaining two were told they would have to wait for 15 minutes before the croissants came out of the oven. My order was incorrect as I was given a triple decker toasted and not the chicken mayo. This resulted in us all eating at different times as the various orders arrived haphazardly. Ideally we should have been told when we took our orders that the croissants were still in the oven. We should really have received our dishes altogether (as to be expected). The bill was pretty expensive which would have been fine if we all enjoyed...

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Burgundy, thanks to the kind invitation of our local friends staying in Hermanus, and we must say, it was an absolute delight.

Burgundy's menu boasts a wide range of delectable options, and both my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the culinary offerings.

As seafood enthusiasts, we decided to indulge in their Linefish, a succulent Kingklip delicately served on a bed of creamy fennel and mussel linguine from their enticing winter special menu. The portion size was generous, and every bite was a burst of flavor.

To accompany our meal, we ventured into their impressive selection of wines and opted for the Bouchard Finlayson Blanc de Mer, Sauvignon Blanc. This delightful wine perfectly complemented the dish, enhancing our dining experience even further.

Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with our visit to Burgundy. The combination of delicious food, extensive wine choices, and warm ambiance made for a memorable and enjoyable evening. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a unique and satisfying culinary experience...
