This was a big mess! . At the time of our family vacation stay. There was construction going on in the hotel. The noise wakes you up in the morning around 9:00am We Had to be moved 3 times to a different hotel rooms. When We first checked in the hotel. They informed us they gave our original room We booked back in March 2017 away to someone else. They put us in a smaller room Even though We paid for the bigger one. We complained about it. So they moved us to the second room. In that room the carpets were not that clean. It cause to Me to have allergies and a hay fever. They moved us again to another t room. It was not in working condition.
They didn't check it before they moved us. It had broken toilet. A sink with no hot water, As well also the shower no hot water. And a broken closet door hanging off. The maintenance people came a total of 4 times to fixed the issues. The fix one thing. Another problem happen.
They fix another problem. The other issue repeated itself. They finally moved us to one of their sisters hotel. It was a night and day difference between the two. We had a better experience at the sister hotel. But this was towards at the end of our 10 day trip. Nevertheless the room was smaller that we originally paid for.
They just transferred our credits to the sister hotel. And gave us what our credit would match up with and what was available at the time. This was going on during South Africa Spring break. So I didn't even get into all the small children making noise in the hallways late at night with no adult supervision. It was a bad experience for Me.
It was Me and My 15 month daughter first time visiting Africa. The noise woke and kept her up. She couldn't sleep. We had to send her to stay at My Wife parents house to stay with them. My Wife is South African.
It was the hotel responsibility to inform us there were doing renovation and adding additional hotel rooms before we got there. Instead one of the the hotel managers told us the construction will be going on for 2 or 3 months and there is nothing can really be done about it. Really? 🤦♂️ Anyway if I go back to stay at a hotel in South Africa. I know where...
Read moreI'm giving this 3 stars because the staff was friendly and did try to help when you contacted them. However, I had a terrible time here. First, I arrived early (at about 9am) and sat on the floor till close to 12 as there were no rooms available. My mother had booked sea facing rooms and we ended up getting a town facing room. It was soooo hot and there wasn't any kind of air conditioning in the entire hotel. I was miserable. It's hot and humid and all my clothes were drenched in sweat. The lifts take forever to arrive, I sometimes waited for ten minutes and one time I had to give up and take the stairs (over 11 floors).
On the second day, we had to wait in a line to enter the breakfast area. The line went up three flights of stairs. It was sooo hot there as well and the food was just okay.
I had complained about the heat, even after they assured me the air conditioning was working. Eventually they brought us a fan.
There were five lamps in the room and one didn't even have a bulb in it and the other one wasn't working.
The toilet was a struggle for me. I would have to press about 20 times before it flushes properly.
Some of the bedding had yellowish stains on it, though it did look like it was clean.
One of the toilets on the breakfast floor had mould on the tiles.. Like the brown type that looks like liquid.
The fridge in the room looked like it had mould or something on the rims of the rubber. There was a bit of mould on the tiles on the wall surrounding the bath/shower.
The lift area smelt a bit damp (though I don't know if it's from people going to the pool).
There were way too many people there.
Its close to the beach though and I think that's the appeal for most. I didn't really enjoy...
Read moreYes, we had to stay there as a Team's base arrangement. The location is bad. the area around is terribly busy, noisy at night, not to mention the beach lounge which blasts music till early morning. Would not recommend walking around after dark and behind the building. Number of rooms located directly opposite or near lifts., therefore in rooms you hear as lifts as people. Very noisy. Lifts are slow and at busy time, like breakfast time, you may have to rather take stairs.|| Breakfast is a considerably basic buffet, but of decent quality. Remember, it a 3 Star Hotel.||Rooms are dated and dull. ||Bed and linen... just OK. No duvet covers just a blanket over the sheet...|| Everything is functioning though, but doors are very squeaky. Soundproofing is not existing. You hear every room's toilet flush, not to mention your own room's bathroom taps and toilet flush. It's a budget hotel attracting budget crowd...On a positive note, the Hotel has Spur restaurant on the ground floor and kiosk where you may buy water and snack. Staff is very friendly and attending to your requests. ||Summary, its ok if you are on tight budget and must be there. Otherwise, pay a just a bit more and stay at Edward Hotel (4 star) 300m away with excellent restaurant., quality soundproof rooms and quiet surroundings. Both hotels belong to reputable hotel group...
