My friend and I visited the bar at Garden Court Marine Parade on Tuesday 5 June 2018 and the service was really poor. After we got seated with the assistance of a staff member from the restaurant who told us that our waitress will attend to us soon, we waited too long before anyone came to our table. When she finally came I asked her why it took her so long to attend to us she said it's because they only start serving food at 13h00 which was something that the first person who attended to us failed to mention. When I checked the time it was 13h17. She took our order for drinks. Then it was another long wait before the drinks came of which I decided to ask again why there was such a long wait and she said the coffee machine had a problem. Mind you she delivered coffee and forgot about sugar and I had to ask for it. The waiting got worse with the meal order. The food finally arrived to the table but then our waitress had to go back to kitchen for our cutlery. The food was delicious however, I cannot recommend anyone there because of the poor service I received.

Thoroughly enjoyed my 5 day stay at the Marine Parade! Spectacular views and lovely food choices - especially those samosas! Such a great conferencing venue- a special thank you to Msizi, Simo, Khanyisa and Aaron who did everything they could to ensure our 135 person conference was a success. Thanks to the other staff who were also great, the very caring security guards and the overall great service. I would suggest two or three things though: perhaps more variety in the carb choices like samp and pap would be nice, and a more sustainable way to have water at the conference. Enforce the no-smoking rule in the rooms more strictly and maybe prioritise big, reusable water bottles instead of the plastic bottles that people waste. Also the pool was not heated? The rooms were also lovely, perhaps the tvs need an upgrade, but still, a wonderful place! Thanks also for my conference gift of Bayede wine!

Best panoramic view of Durban's Beach Front and port of entry, absolutely breath taking, thrown in for good measure is a brilliant sunrise. The rooms are clean and spacious but could do with some renovations. The cuisine is off and on. Rooms are decked out with books of food delivery service of the Durban, seems to be working. Buffet breakfast available. Chilling out pub and cafe staged to please. Had one of the best Irish ales on tap at this here pub. Service is good. Close to the beach and various types of outdoor sports, architecture, museums, libraries, SeaWorld and malls. Adult indoor swimming pool on roof level overlooking the entire Durban coastline, incredible view, while taking a dip in a blue see through pool. Taxi service readily available. Wheel chair accessibility. Security a bit relaxed so be vigilant and common sense.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

I had several articles of clothing stolen by the staff which the management quickly reimbursed me for to make me be quiet as quickly as possible.

I asked the maid to please supply me with an extra set of sheets and tipped/paid her VERY GENEROUSLY to do so...and then never saw her again!!

I brought this to the attention of the management who quickly organised some kind of kangaroo 'ID parade' out of which I identified the culprit. I was then told that the staff member would undergo I lie detector test in the next few days (I was leaving the next day) and that I would be contacted. Having heard nothing a month later, I contacted the hotel myself and was told that the maid had "passed the lie detector test" and that I would now be liable to pay for the cost of the test!!

Obviously I refused outright and just couldn't be bothered pursuing this matter via e-mail for forever and a day...so I gave up and put it down to the price of an education!

Everything about my experience suggested to me that the entire hotel was corrupt, with everyone covering everyone else's back...from the management right the way down to the refuse staff.

One more thing...

One night I watched hotel security staff chase a guy behind an out-building on the beach just across from the hotel (my room was several floors up on the beach side)...where there then commenced a series of loud, pitiful and horrible sounding screams...clearly the guy was being beaten up...badly!!...I phoned down to reception to ask what was happening and was told they would look into it but nothing happened and after several calls to reception I was told in no uncertain terms that this was the way they dealt with thieves around there...to send a message to others...and I might want to turn the other cheek!

After what seemed like an eternity the security guards came out from behind the building and wandered off in various directions...I never saw the 'victim' emerge at any point over the next thirty minutes or so...take from that what you will!

Not much else to say really...good luck if you choose to stay...

woke up on Sunday morning (06/01/19) and decided to go for a buffet breakfast. i called the reception at this hotel and asked about the Peppa restaurant. asked how much, do i need to make bookings because im a walk in visitor. was informed the price and NO there was no need for bookings. so myself and my family(10 people) made the 30 minute trip to this hotel. stood in the line for another 20 minutes but i didn't mind this. as i come to the front of the line im informed by the 2 staff on duty (coloured gentleman and an Indian lady) that walk ins will only be received at 10h00 and mind you it was 09h30. i told them i called and asked if i had to book and was told NO. was told to take a seat at the bar seating area and they will help us after 10h00. mind you the breakfast closes at 11h00. i left with my party of 10 to another buffet restaurant down the road who were more than happy to help me. i was upset because i thought to myself in all i was going to waste 80 minutes of my time in total from the minute i left home until im given a table. according to me because im not a hotel guest, my patronage is not worth the money im paying. unfortunately this has caused me to rethink about returning to this hotel. i actually used this restaurant for my daughter birthday and invited 40 guests at my cost, i guess because it was dinner and the restaurant is totally dead i got top service but because the hotel was fully booked this time, the service sucked. please inform your staff about the rules when it comes to walk ins concerning...

Worst start to the holiday.. Upon checking in, there was guest that was in tears that no one in the restaurant would assist her in warming up food that was bought from the hotel and had just had a bad experience with management..After a long journey no complimentary drinks or water was available in the rooms.. Neither was there any body lotion.. But prior to this our vehicle was blocked in the driveway whilst checking in so could not be parked in the undercover immediately. When the security was asked whose vehicle was parked in front no response was given and said there was nothing he could do.. So our vehicle was blocked and so was others.. The security was told to notify us via reception if the vehicle in front had moved. When we came down 3 hours later to view there was an angry guest who then ASSAULTED my partner for blocking his car without even listening or hearing the story.. When reporting this to the front desk we were told to the speak to management. Who then said that what happens in their driveway is none of their business.. What kind of guest relations or management is this??? It is a disgrace to tsogo sun and their employees.. How does one enjoy their holiday from hereon knowing that there are violent guests living in the same hotel and sharing the same amenities? Could the security employed not approach reception to try and notify us that the car could be moved to avoid this unnecessary situation. Poor management! Poor security! Poor guest relations!...
