It took me a while to pen down this review because I didn't have much good points for this hotel. It was stated as 1 of the best hotel in Jeju. I have booked this hotel impulse because my flight was cancelled on 22 Dec 2023 due to weather condition - snow blizzard. It was on the news and it was really bad that all flights were cancelled at Jeju Airport, with 3000 and more pax were stranded and panicking trying to get alternatives to be arranged at that point. I did a search and it stated that Oriental Hotel Jeju is 1 of the best hotel to stay near the airport under Trip.com.I didn't hesitate and booked it. When I got to the hotel, I was kind of relieved that it was stated outside that it is a 5 stars (NOT!) hotel for tourists!Apparently, we had difficulties to communicate with the counter staff to check in.After checking into the hotel, I realised that our bathroom smell terribly of urine and sewage. The room so terrible with molds and tears (so outdated), and I could hear so clearly when people walked past our rooms to the lift lobby.Because it was just 2 nights stay, we tried to bear with the smell, but I couldn't anymore.I did a room change, however, the "new" room was located away from my kids which is at another annex which I have to take the lift down to ground level and walk about less than 10m to get to another lift to our room.Service: 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻Location:👎🏻👎🏻Facilities: 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻Lobby lounge: 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻(not even available!)Verdict: This hotel is so out-dated, this should not be even a 5 stars hotel!!! Please look into your hotel rating instead! Even Singapore 2-3 stars hotels are much better...
Read moreThe hotel is conveniently located as others have mentioned. There are many other hotels for the foreign traveler to choose from in the Tapdong district of Jeju city, particularly by the sea front.||||Clearly this hotel is struggling to recover and re-position itself since the corona pandemic. (It has a casino which is now shut down).||||The staff generally can't or don't want to speak English and they are unfriendly to foreigners. I did not feel welcome and I would go as far to say borderline hostile.||I have read similar comments in other reports and I back up those comments based on my stay. (There was one exception which was a friendly and polite young female staff receptionist who did try to help out with her limited English.||||The room needs redecorating and the furniture is worn. The breakfast was average. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the linen and towels were very clean.|||| I'm not comfortable writing a negative review post pandemic but I think it is right to let other foreigners know what to expect if they stay at this hotel.||||Based on my experience, this hotel is for Korean guests and is not suitable...
Read moreThe hotel was good. The rooms were clean and came with bathrobes and slippers. Nice hot showers and comfortable beds. The rooms are also closer to American standard room size which was nice. The casino is quite small so if this is why you are looking to stay here, don't have high expectations. I didn't use the restaurants on site so I can't speak to them. The hotel staff are very accommodating and speak decent English.
The area has good restaurants and shopping nearby. I would recommend With Us Travel Coffee House. They have waffles to die for. It's about a 5-8 minute walk from the hotel.
The one thing, for me, that would've made this hotel great is if the air conditioning worked better. It was 23-25 celcius (73-78 degrees) in my room. It was really bad at night because of their energy conservation and it would just turn off. It was cooler outside than in my room. Other than that, I would definitely...
