Absolutely horrid hotel experience. Stayed in the “Standard Ocean View Double Room” for 4 nights in early November.
Cons Please note “panorama ocean view” is 90% buildings and 10% ocean so don’t be fooled. See pictures.
Mosquitoes in this hotel. On my first night I literally had to stand on chairs to kill mosquitoes in the toilet and my room itself. On top of the cupboard / toilet + room ceiling / curtains. Do see pictures.
At 2am wrote in a complaint on my booking platform (Agoda) because I felt at this price point ($80+ a night to sleep with mosquitoes from a hotel that has 4.7 stars on Google ?!💀) it was very unfair, deserved some form of compensation.
Within 5mins the Manager guy called my room and spoke some English, will give good service points for that; fast response.
However all he did was pass me a cheap can of insecticide and a scent freshener , and told me “next time dont email call the front desk”. It was in a partially rude tone but I excused it, being already 2am.
For a hotel it’s a cheapskate manner to do so. Just let the customer resolve the issue themselves? This can of insecticide is a 100% solution? Amazing. By the way the very next morning I saw mosquitoes flying out of my curtains again but I gave up trying to negotiate with the hotel for a PROPER hotel experience.
Just to prove it, even when I was going on the lift down I saw a mosquito chilling... 4.7 star hotel? (See video attached)
I went down to buy detergent from the vending machine. Didn’t realise it was only for credit cards so I was looking at it for awhile for notes slot. Mr Manager once again talks to me in a pretty rude and condescending tone “some Korean excuse me I’m sorry it’s credit card only” & “next time call front desk the extension is xxx”. Yet again in a rude manner as if having mosquitoes in a HOTEL room wasn’t bad enough and I have to MAKE SURE I call him.
Cheap hotel = upsell their products. They don’t even top up your shower gels nor do they provide toothbrushes (u have to pay btw)
Pros: Sandwich every day at 7am at ur door Housekeeping done a fantastic job
Disclaimer: in no way is this to slander or defamation against the hotel or any personal grudges. All in all an objective review In compassion to other hotels at the same price point. I’ve stayed in 2 other hotels during this trip, all of them were impeccable and flawless experiences. Not my first time in Korea as well, so this was an UTTERLY horrible experience at this price point.
Edit: pictures of mosquitoes on walls are from my room; various walls. First pic is 3 out of 5 mosquitoes I killed; 2 in toilet...
Read moreThe hotel is located about 10 minutes drive away from Jeju airport, and is about 15-20 minutes walk to the main shopping street. There wasn’t much food options nearby the hotel so if you will have to walk to the main shopping street. There is a convenient store just next door if you’re looking to get a quick fix for your meal.
Rooms are clean, check in is fuss free and there is a vending machine at the lobby which sells some usual life commodities like toothbrush and clothing detergent. The laundry room is at level 2, but instructions on the usage of dryer/washing machine can be clearer as my washing machine’s spin dry process was stuck at 14 minutes for 40 minutes but my clothes were still awfully wet and had to take 2 hours in the dryer.
Most of the reception staff were quite friendly, except for one of the evening shift male staff who was quite rude to us. There is no signage at the lobby stating that we could not eat there (mind you, that space had a microwave, chairs & tables), and as we tried to unpack our food to eat there, he came over to reprimand us in a loud voice, which made us embarrassed in front of the crowd at the lobby. The other staff allowed us to have a quick meal at the lobby on the few nights that we stayed there and we would always clean up the tables and chairs, cleared the trash and ensure there were no food scraps, so we didn’t see what was the issue with having some food at that space.
Nonetheless, would like to thank the female staff working evening shift on 23 March who helped us to order delivery for our dinner, and the male staff working morning shift on 24 March who helped us with getting 2 taxis to the airport. Sorry that I didn’t managed to get their names to thank them personally.
On a side note, the hotel could do better in being more responsive to customers via email. I had emailed them on both occasions to confirm my Agoda booking but to no avail. My Jeju driver had to help us confirm the booking via phone call. This might pose an issue should the Agoda booking not go through into their system and if we had no rooms to stay in when we arrive, but thankfully they received our booking. The hotel might want to relook into better communication with guest to ensure a fuss free confirmation.
Tip: Always write in to the hotel personally to check if they received your booking if you’re making a booking via third...
Read moreNo frills and very decent hotel! Stayed here for a night and was pleasantly surprised by the amenities in the hotel. Overall, I think this is 4.5 stars for the price.
Location: The hotel is about 10 min drive from Jeju airport. The cab fare cost about 5,000 won. May cost more if you use Korea taxi apps.
Reception: The front desk staff can speak basic English. There is also a water dispenser (free) to fill your bottles and a smoothie machine (charges apply) at the lobby. Bottled water is also provided in the room.
Amenities: the room size is very spacious! Sufficient for 2 medium sized luggages and 2 cabin luggages and there was still space to walk around we booked a double city view room and it is similar to a semi studio serviced apartment with kitchenette facilities such as oven, kettle, some tea, coffee, mini fridge and a sink. the bathroom amenities are quite basic but ok for short term use. They provide 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and shower gel. Take note they don’t provide toothbrush and toothpaste. Will recommend you to visit the CU convenience store nearby if you forget yours. please bring your beauty amenities such as cotton wool and cotton buds if you need for makeup removal. water pressure of the shower head was good. I personally found the bathroom light a little dim. there is a cloth stand to hang clothes or towel. Very useful. there is a vanity area for ladies with hairdryer and mirror the room was a bit stuffy even after adjusting the temperature.
Breakfast: The hotel offers complimentary sandwiches every morning at 6am. You just have to hang the black bag (provided in the room) outside your room the night before. We got egg mayo sandwiches the next day.
Carpark: There is valet parking there. The hotel staff will help to park your car and you can retrieve your...
