This hotel is situated in the south of Je-Ju Island approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes by bus from the Airport (W4,500). The bus starts about 6am and finishes around 10pm so outside of those times you need a taxi from the Airport which is about W35,000. |The hotel is close to the fishing harbour and there are several attractions within reasonable walking distance. It is also close to the Seogwipo Harbour bus stop for route 600 which goes from the Airport and gives access to many of the hotels and attractions of the Jungmun resort area and the Football Stadium where there is a large E-Market Supermarket and a local bus exchange. |The hotel itself is a great budget hotel. It is mainly frequented by S. Korean families, young adult Koreans and small tour groups. There are several restaurants nearby but everything is in S. Korean and English is limited. This gave the time there a real foreign feel which I really liked.|The rooms are clean with white linen, bottled water, a kettle, coffee and tea, robe, slippers, towels and bath complimentaries. Daily room service if you want. The en-suite had a bath with overhead shower. The staff have varying amounts of English, but they are very helpful if you keep it simple. The breakfast is served between 7.30am and 9.30am and, if not included in your room is a reasonable price (W8,000, I think). There is cereal and toast, fried egg and fried tin ham, hot chips or croquets and chicken nugget style bites, processed cheese slices, fresh tomatoes, bananas, cold slaw, Korean style soup, a hot Asian dish and rice. There is ready mixed sweet coffee packets, green tea, milk and orange juice. So it's not conventional European breakfast food but there is still something there for everyone. |The wi-fi in the room seemed to work well and there is a TV in the room which has mainly Korean channels. There is an English speaking news channel or two and a few film channels which may show English films - often very old ones - however a day before I left they changed their wi-fi provider and although there were more channels many of them became pay-to-view [W4,500 a show] - so you would probably need your own access to on-line entertainment that uses the free wi-fi in the room. Also in the room is a fridge and there is a convenience store attached to the building with some basics. The room was a bit tired - the bathroom cabinet smelled very musty and the edges of the drawers in the main room were flaking. I had an ocean view room which was as it said but also included the view of 2 derelict buildings as part of that view. It just made me laugh. |The room had an automatic zonal lighting system which was a bit annoying and I missed having a bed side light to read by. I eventually worked out the zones and that when a light was on on the console it meant the light on the ceiling was off!!!! No instructions in the room folder. There is under floor heating and a pretty quiet air con system. |The "Business Centre" is a very slow computer in the Lobby that was so slow the Receptionist drummed up the website I wanted on his phone for me! |I would definitely use this hotel again. I liked the slightly rough intrepid feel of the area with little visible English. Walking around was easy and felt safe. There are plenty of taxis passing by if you want to use them and if you can work out the local buses (I could only workout the 600 Route) there are stops also nearby. Getting a bus card from any convenience store was easy, though the discount fares did not apply when using the card on the 600 Route - which also takes cash and...
Read moreInsects were found on my comforter. Started with 2 which were swept away then felt itchy in the night (1:30am) and was shocked to see more! ||||Alerted counter staff who tried to kill by stepping on them in front of me. He blamed the backpackers for bringing these insects to his hotel which I felt was very unprofessional. ||||He apologised then made a few phone calls before switching a room for me. He didn’t mention if I’d be resting in the same room until I asked. I also requested for a refund. ||||He again made another few phone calls then told me that it would be a refund but I had to check-out the next day as their hotel was fully booked on the days as my reservation. ||||I reminded staff about the 1) inconvenience they’ve caused which included sleep disturbance and the worry of skin disease, 2) the extra cost on transport and itinerary because of the change, 3) buses in Jeju are a bit slow and inaccessible, and 4) check-in time for hotels in Jeju are usually 4pm. These factors are enough to ruin my holiday. ||||Staff insisted that I rest first as it’s late already. Suggested to discuss at 9am the next day while he’s still around as he’s the only Mandarin speaking staff. How accommodating was that? ||||So, the outcome was the same- a refund and check-out. Negotiation went on as I insisted they arrange an accommodation around the area for me so I could continue my planned trips. They agreed with the “no refund” condition. ||||Well, they got me a place twice smaller than theirs and still refused to refund the first night fee. Due to language barrier, I gave up. A disgusting place with...
Read moreHotel is conveniently located, and in walking distance to some local attractions such as waterfalls and the market. The staff is friendly, speaks enough English, and the room is clean and relatively spacious. The breakfast offers both western and local food, but is the same every day with not much choice. The hotel guests seem to be mostly young chinese families. Harbour view can be a bit noisy during the night, as the harbour is pretty busy during the night. Rooms felt a bit dated, and the furniture as well as facilities are partly broken, e.g. the whirlpool was not working, the safe was not working and not attached to the wall. Or, when unplugging electronic devices, either the entire headboard is shaking and threatens to fall out, or the socket is. Same in the bathroom, faucets and fittings were all not properly attached and or broken. Hangers in the closet were broken etc... Also, the room temperature as well as the shower temperature was impossible to regulate. The room was constantly overheated and the floor heating was permanently set to 28C. As a result, the window has to be kept open or the aircon has to cool down the room while floor heating is on full power. In short: You get what you pay for, and that is good value for money, but do not expect more. It would be great for the hotel if they had a good handyman to fix the deteriorated condition of rooms. Our room alone had more than 10...
