Please note I am writing this review to make people aware that they may be scammed!

I booked 2 rooms for 4 nights at this property in June 2024 on Booking.com, as I intended to go to the Bruce Springsteen shows in Barcelona.

I booked on booking.com with a rate which required no pre-payment and free cancellation up until the day before - ideal, as obviously Bruce has had to postpone quite a few concerts this year already.

After booking, I received repeated messages on the Booking.com app from the property, insisting that I must transfer them 50% of the total amount to their bank account immediately so they could "confirm my booking". They said it was an "internal policy", which doesn't matter given I booked through Booking.com. I refused this and sent them evidence of the booking showing that no pre-payment is required. Despite this, they then tried to charge my credit card, which failed as the full payment wasn't authorised.

I was very uncomfortable with this whole experience - I don't believe any hotel should ever ask you to transfer part of your payment to their bank account in advance.

I cancelled my booking which unfortunately leaves me without somewhere to stay.

My assumption is A) It's a scam or B) They realised they could get more money now the concerts have sold out and so did this to pressure me into cancelling. Either way, unacceptable - please be careful and DO NOT TRANSFER THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY - wholly...

The property was in an excellent location, very close the under ground station and local shops and a cafe.|The rooms were clean and tidy. Staff were really welcoming and accommodating - gave us recommendations for things to do.||In the room you are given a coffee machine and kettle, which is fantastic however there is no fridge for milk and no milk provided. A fridge would be beneficial. The hair dryer could also be more powerful.|In the bathroom the shower screen is too short for the power of the shower head. Water gets all over bathroom and you have to use your bath towels to clean it up. Shower screens should be replaced to be longer. |There also aren’t enough bins in the room, there is a small ‘sanitary’ bin in the bathroom but that is all. We ended up leaving 2 bags of rubbish in the room when we checked out. |The bedroom doors also are on a soft close so when you leave the room ensure you’re pulling it closed otherwise they don’t shut on their own. I am also unsure if the door locks work too. |From walking to and from the hotel we also think the street door before you enter the hotel entrance should be locked as would feel more secure. The hotel would be easy to access if the door wasn't closed...

After staying in apartments for 8 days it was nice to have a hotel experience for a couple of nights before travelling home. As it happened we arrived just after 13:30 which coincidentally was the hotel check-in time. All staff at all times of the day were very friendly indeed and informal. Rooms are small but we just wanted to live out of a suitcase anyway and only take out what we needed for the short stay. Storage is smart, open plan and limited but ideal for the time we were staying. The bathroom is beautiful with gorgeous white tiling and a rain shower. However, the sliding door was extremely difficult to manoeuvre. Sometimes it required two people to try and slide it open and shut. Maybe just something easy with the mechanism to sort out. No big deal, and quite funny at times. Sound proofing wasn't great, we could hear conversations in the next room and in the corridors. Street noise was also quite vibrant but we booked a city view anyway and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are no black out curtains but this wasn't a major issue especially in late October. I'd be happy to stay again if the...

We stayed there over Christmas and it was great. Short walk to the metro which took us less than 30 minutes by train to get to the various tourist sites such as La Sagrada/Casa Batllo etc. The average room is small (unless you took one of the lofts). My only feedback is if they could put one of those stools in the toilet between the toilet bowl and the sink for us to put our toiletries that would be great. We took one of ours next to the bed and put it there. Which meant I had to put my phone, glasses etc on the floor. Otherwise it was very clean and we had adequate space to hang our jackets and open our suitcases. The staff were amazing. Always friendly, helpful and gave us good recommendations as well. You have to visit the cafe downstairs at least once. Good ham & cheese croissants and cakes too. We ate there a few times. There’s a couple of supermarkets across the street and bakeries/cafes/restaurants around. Plenty near the station too. Great brunch cafes just a 5-8 min walk away.

I stayed here for 5 days. The rooms are tastefully and simply decorated. They are very clean. Service was great and helpful. I loved that there was a coffee bar where you get 10% off when staying in the hotel. The coffee is excellent. The only caveat is the noise levels. The hotel is not wel insulated, so I needed to use ear plugs to sleep. I first had the room on the ground floor, where you hear the doors bang until late at night. So I certainly would avoid that room. They moved me to a quieter room on the first floor after I asked, but even there I needed ear plugs. Otherwise I loved it. Also the location is excellent. Lots of nice eateries and supermarkets around and a metro 4 minutes away.

The Magatzem is a very clean and surprisingly quiet hotel in the middle of the Eixample quarter. The single room is very small but it has the basic amenities you need. The mattress and the pillow are very comfortable. In the bathroom you would find toiletries, the shower works well. Reception staff is kind and welcoming, they make very good coffee. I did not like that the window of the room was overlooking an internal courtyard so it had very little natural light.
