It's my second time coming here. This time around, I visited when they had a lot more customers to serve. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the service and food as much as I did last time.
Cons:
I was rather disappointed by the Pininyahang Manok, it didn't have a pineapple flavour at all, but instead tasted like a coconut milk dish like Bicol express. Their Bicol express is up to my taste and is highly recommendable.
The sauce of their Sariwang Lumpia is quite bland, to be completely honest. I wish the portion size could be a bit bigger too.
The Kare Kare could of have been better, the peanut flavour was not strong enough and the beef was mostly bland.
The Sago't Gulaman was too sweet. I had to add water because the sweetness was too overwhelming and a little too pricey in my opinion.
The inihaw na isda was not worth it, it was super pricey but the size was too small! We expected at least a medium-sized fish.
Pros:
Let's move on to the positive side of this restaurant. The Pinakbet, Lechon Paksiw was good, would definitely order this again!
Ordering a broth on the side is definitely worth it and only 70c perfect to add to your rice.
Please, try the Buko Pandan! It's tasty and so creamy!
Moving on to the service. I don't know if they were understaffed that day, but the waiter seemed rather stressed, we had to remind him a few times of a dish we ordered and in the end he completely forgot to give us a dish we ordered, we only realised once we were at home.
In conclusion, Kasarap is a good authentic Filipino Restaurant and I strongly believe that with further improvement, they will definitely be even more pupular amongst locals and...
Read moreWe had just arrived from Paris and were looking for a restaurant near our hotel. We were walking around and noticed the signage, I’m not filipino but I know enough to translate it to English for delicious, so I asked my wife who is Filipina, does that say “delicious?” And she was like no way, as we both though it might mean something else. As it happens it was filipino cuisine. We opened the door and was blown away, the restaurant was clean bright, and filled with Filipinos. We were both pleasantly surprised. And the staff are also Filipino which was a welcomed surprise, as most people know Parisians are not friendly at all.
They sat us down, luckily before the huge dinner rush, 9pm apparently. And proceeded to order:
Bulalo Nilaga: Beef bone soup. This was delicious as it took me back to when I visited Tagatay. Sizzling Sisig with egg: delicious, and comes on a hot plate Lechon Kawali: Yummy fried pork ness Okoy: Thin and crispy shrimp based pancakes Pork BBQ skewers: grilled to perfection with some sweet and salty balance Halo Halo: Great dessert to finish things off
I must say this was the best Filipino food, I’ve had, better than anything in the USA, yes even in LA. Only exception was of course in the Philippines. We went back here 2 of the 5 nights of our stay in Barcelona.
Highly...
Read moreI am from the Bay Area, where there is a large Filipino population. Also, my boyfriend is Filipino. Kasarap is 💯 authentic and the staff are Filipino. 🇵🇭
I ordered: Bicol Express Yes, this is the name of a Filipino dish! This is pork in coconut sauce and it is DAMN GOOD!
BBQ pork skewer Getting the Filipino BBQ right is the golden standard of Filipino cooking. Their pork skewers are damn amazing.
Sisig Sisig is a dish made from a pig's face and belly. Each province makes this dish a bit differently. Personally, I like a more fatty sisig. The sisig bits here and meaty and crunchy. Might be an availability issue of what ingredients Kasarap can obtain out here.
Lumpia sariwa Most people think of crispy fried eggrolls when they think of lumpia. There's also a version called lumpia sariwa, which is surrounded with an egg wrapper usually served fresh (not fried). This dish is a little sweet, little vinegary, little peanuty, and so damn good and balanced with the veggies.
Longsilog The longanisa is more savory, and not the sweet kind I like. The egg yolk wasn't very runny. Overall I'd skip.
Palabok I love palabok, but theirs is very...
