Overall ok experience but with significant downsides. Initially, we booked the basic room for which we asked for an upgrade to red level to improve our experience (spa, breakfast and additional services such as the availability of an Audi to drive 1 day during the stay). In this regard, I would like to highlight that breakfast was really good as well as the availability of the red level lounge. Also, the red level front office agents (on-site receptionists) did a great job. On the other hand, we encounter several downsides:
We stated that we wanted to book the Audi for a specific day during our stay for which the front office employee stated that we needed to book it through the app. The day was available at the time we started registering in the app but it got unavailable by the time front office verified our documents (i.e. driving license, id). We would normally not have any problem with it; however, the desired date the car became available so we booked it via the app so we went to reception to ask for the keys to which the receptionist replied that they had given the keys to another guests as the booked it in person (not via the app). My question here is, why the heck the front office employee could not book it for us and suddenly when we actually book the car for the desired date the car was unavailable as it was booked by the receptionist for this other guest?
One of the main reasons why we decided to upgrade the room was to have access to the spa (it states one hour which I think is really little time as other 5 stars hotels do not limit the time at the spa/indoor pool). We called reception in order to book the spa to which they replied that we could go whenever since we are red level; so we went and checked in with the lady at the spa. When we went to the pool area it the room itself was not heated and neither the pool, who wants to pay money to enter in a cold room with a cold pool? The only thing you could do would be to enter in the pool and run quickly to the sauna; however, the sauna was not working and the hammam was dangerously too steamy and smelling funny (like mold) so we did not adventure to enter. Furthermore, we were told that the head of client experience (David) would call us during the day to let us know this issue was solved and if they could do something for us to improve our experience; we never received any call.
Overall as you can see the experience was not pleasant. Finally, it should be noted that the shuttle service offered to Plaça Catalunya is only one way which seems irrational and not really smart since the driver could pick up guests on his way back to the hotel.
Considering the above reasons, we would not suggest to come to this hotel as we would not come...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel during Members Fest in Barcelona, where it served as the host hotel. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the 5-star standard it claims.||The most consistent issue throughout our stay was the poor housekeeping. Upon arrival, we found a bug on the ceiling in the bathroom, and dust on the nightstands, lamps, electrical outlets, and behind the door. Towels were inconsistently replaced—some days we were left without washcloths, hand towels, or even bath towels. Basic items like cotton pads and tips, which we use daily, were rarely replenished. The shower was not properly cleaned, as the same hair remained in place for several days. On our final night, the robe and slippers I had been using were removed and never replaced, and no turndown service was provided. We were also completely out of shower gel.||Equally frustrating was the lack of responsiveness from reception. Whether it was regarding our malfunctioning AC unit on the first night, the missing robe, or requesting a bellman to assist with our luggage on departure day—no one answered the phone, and even when messages were left, no one followed up. We ended up hauling our own luggage down at 4 a.m.||The most disappointing part, however, was the transportation arrangement tied to our Meliá membership. This is now the second time it has been mishandled. Our flight was scheduled for 6:20 a.m., and yet a note was left in our room saying transportation was arranged for 6:00 a.m.—completely unacceptable. When we tried to resolve it, there was no consistency in communication between the reception team, concierge, or the designated Circle representative. Despite multiple attempts to confirm and correct the issue, we never received a follow-up or resolution.||To treat paying members this way is totally absurd—and to even suggest we should consider upgrading is ludicrous. Meliá should focus on delivering exceptional service to its loyal members first before asking for additional money.||While the property itself is visually nice, service is what defines a luxury stay—and this fell far short. We’ve visited six countries in the past 30 days, and sadly, this was the worst housekeeping and service experience of them all. This may be labeled a 5-star hotel, but it operates more like a 4-star at best. Meliá seriously needs to reassess its standards if it wants to retain its members and earn...
Read moreI stayed in Torre Melina last week on a business trip to Barcelona, and I want to clarify some things mentioned down by fellow travelers. I guess some of them were annoyed by some hotel policies so they wrote their reviews in affect, as imo, no chance you can rate this hotel bad. LOCATION - not so great for tourists - on the western end of Diagonal. It is far away from main tourist sites, however the nearest metro stop (Zona Universitaria) is 7, 8 min walk and Line 3 takes you quickly to main sites. Also, there's a free shuttle bus on the hour taking you to Pl. Catalunya - sole city center. LOBBY - enormous and amazingly beautiful with huge open air V shaped atrium. Check in fast with extremely kind staff - that applies to all staff members I encountered throughout the hotel for two days. ROOMS - spacious, clean and modern. Ask for EVEN number room, as those have city center views - Montjuic, MNAC, Plaza Espana, downtown,....very, very nice view from my 612. Beds were extremely comfortable, as well pillows. Everything in the room is new and digital. Separate shower cabin and attached toilet. BREAKFAST - wonderful. Huge and quality choice of cold and warm dishes, great selection of fresh fruits, pastries, cakes,...you name it. POOLS - there are two of them, and yes - there is a small misleading fact, but is well explained. The pool you see on the website and booking platforms is the charging one. You need to spend 75 Euros there per person in order to enjoy it. So, it is not paying like some say here, but you get food and drink for your spent money. How much you get and what are the prices - I don't know. I didn't check the prices, just chatted to a young kind hostess who let me walk around. This pool looks more inviting with better sunbeds, cabanas, sand and grass, restaurant by it,.... However, just across the lobby there's a free pool, bigger than the paying one, and closer to the hotel. Surroundings are not that fancy, but well maintained and clean with ordinary sunbeds, yet same quality towels. So, it's up to you to choose. Imo, what's lacking is the indoor pool for colder months as Barcelona is a year round destination. To conclude, great hotel to spend your...
