Well it’s certainly gone downhill since I last attended just over a year ago! We went for Sunday Lunch today and was very disappointed in the service even though we went early to beat the crowds! On our arrival there were ample spare tables to sit. We sat outside because we had a dog. The waitress came to us over 5 minutes later and asked us what we wanted to drink, leaving 2 menus for us to order food. Approximately 20 minutes later she took our food order and then a short time later arrived with knives and forks but still no drinks! Our drinks arrived a further 5 minutes later, where she promptly slopped them on the table causing spillage from both glasses, didn’t apologise and walked away! I went to the bar to pick up some beer mats to soak up the spillage. We then waited a good 10 minutes and our Sunday lunch arrived with no jug of gravy as requested and the waitress didn’t offer any condiments. We grabbed her attention and asked for mint sauce for the lamb and horseradish for the beef. The waitress returned with the condiments, however the small dish containing mint sauce was clearly over full and running down the sides of the dish, again spilling onto the table. We used our napkin to wipe it all up! We waited for the gravy to arrive but after eating almost half the dinner which was by now, cooling down, I approached the young lady and asked for gravy. 10 minutes later, still no gravy! I got up again, having slowed down eating my dinner in the event of the gravy arriving to no avail, and approached the same waitress who was standing at the end of the bar on a refreshment break, I assume, at which I asked the young girl, if there was any possibility of gravy arriving before my dinner was cold and/or finished! She responded by saying “oops! I forgot!” I waited at the bar until she “slopped” gravy herself into a jug, again running down the sides! We used our 2nd & final napkin to mop up the gravy on my arrival at the table again. By which time I lost the will to live, poured a little warm gravy onto my now cold dinner, ate a little more and left the rest, having lost my appetite! A different waitress came and immediately cleared our plates away. We weren’t offerer desserts or drinks, and for that matter, wasn’t asked at any point if everything was ok, so we just paid up and left. The service was very poor indeed. Overall I think the outside area of Yorkshire Pride needs a little more TLC as the floor was dirty, in fact I would say the paving needed jetwashing, there was a leak in the far corner outside where cardboard was put down to partially cover some of the stagnant pool that had collected there. The green plastic tables appeared to be rotting and definitely needed a good clean. As for the actual Sunday Lunch, the vegetables were fresh, the meat was excellent and you certainly got plenty, but service and decor let’s the place down badly and I won’t be rushing back...
Read moreWe called in today for a Sunday roast, we purposely picked a time when it wouldn’t be too busy, as we sat down at an outside table, a couple across from us got up and left saying they had got fed up with waiting to be served. We waited quite a while noticing that the waitress had seen us but didn’t seem to be bothering to come and take our order. I eventually went inside and asked at the bar if I could order our meals there. The lady told me no, that I needed to sit at the table and wait to be served. We decided to leave and go and eat elsewhere. We won’t be back. It’s a shame as we’ve eaten here many times and it’s always been good service and good food, but the staff seems to have changed and not...
Read moreWe love it here, even the dog loves it. Can't walk past without her wanting to go in! Huge Yorkshire portions of great quality home cooked food. Super friendly staff. Dogs are welcome in the covered outside terrace and if they smile sweetly may even get a sausage. We go at least twice a week and the only trouble we have is deciding what to eat, it's all good. Breakfasts are proper English bacon etc and enough to keep you going all day. Sunday dinners (served every day) are enough to have you needing a nap afterwards. Always great value and made to feel very welcome, what more...
