the 18 bed dormitory is a bit chaotic when fully occupied. however, the guests had common sense and even the 2 toilets/2 showers for women were managed in an orderly fashion. plus points for the staff who were kind and helpful. in any case, the price is good for those who are doing Camino de Pedra throughout Mallorca

Can Boi was our favourite refuge in Traumontana. We were looked after very well by Juan Jo who learnt our names immediately, and made sure we ate plenty of local olives. The warm fire was great and always lit! There’s also an old olive oil press preserved in the back of the building. Well worth a look!

Pretty amazing Refugi, it is like a youth hostel, quite fancy. Good beds and a very nice host at the reception. You can even buy snacks and drinks at a very fair price. Every room is heated, has blankets and the entrance hall has a beautiful oldfashioned chimney. I recommend anyone to come here!

Refuge Can Boi is a lovely building and Deia is a great base. The beds are just fine and on the face of it it's great value.... so what's the problem? Please see my 5 top tips below (and reasons why I marked it down):||||1. Don't arrive late if you want to check in quickly: I arrived at about 7:30pm and asked to check in. Since dinner was being served, I was told that it was impossible and that I had to wait for '20 minutes'. After waiting for 20 minutes, I was told again to wait for a further 20 minutes (there were a number of others doing the same).||||2. Bring your own water: After waiting for half an hour, I asked if I could have a glass of water from the jug on the check in desk. I was told that it wasn't included because I havn't booked dinner, but that I could 'have just one' - this was approx 150ml of water. ||||3. Double check your bill! This is the important one... despite having paid in advance, I was charged again for my bed. I admit that I should have checked whether I had already paid before handing over any cash, but since then I have emailed them 4 times and given 48 hours to highlight what I hope was a mistake and try and resolve the problem. So far it has been totally ignored.||||4. Triple check your bill: I stayed in numerous hotels and refuges during my stay in Mallorca and was charged 55cents each night for tourist tax. Well... everywhere except Can Boi where I was charged 3Euros (and told I could only pay in cash). There could be a valid reason for this (perhaps the staff could explain?), but given point 3, I am suspicious.||||5. Eat elsewhere: The food actually looked fine (though I didn't eat here) and it doesn't cost much so should be top marks... but on the evening I stayed the guests were looking stressed and complaints were coming thick and fast for incorrect meals / being billed wrong etc. etc. ||||I still hope that the billing issues were just a mistake as opposed to staff wanting to pocket a few Euros and it's very possible that they were having a particularly bad evening with the service (the guy was run off his feet and probably trying his best), but this was my experience when I...

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTEL OR MAKE A BOOKING OVER THEIR ONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM. I booked this hostel 5 months before arriving as I was walking the gr221 with friends. I used their online booking system. Money (£127) was taken out of my account with the hostel name next to the amount on my bank statement. the hostel denied any booking and my bank is currently investigating. I asked the hostel to book my friends and me in and they failed to reply 3 weeks prior to arriving at the hostel. so my friend booked us in via the online system and she received confirmation. when we arrived at the hostel they didn't have beds for us and we got turned away with everything else booked in deia. the people at the hostel were really unhelpful and didn't seemed bothered that we had walked all day and had no accommodation or transport. Other walkers arrived during the time we were at the hostel and they had experienced the same problems. there is clearly an issue with their online booking system and they are not doing anything to sort it out and really don't appear to care. very disappointing when the other huts are...

We stayed at the Can Boi for one night during our hike along the GR 221. On arrival at this hostel it was clear that the receptionist was not very friendly at all. I had booked online fairly easily and without any problems and had expected to get a refund on the sheets as we had sleeping bags. The receptionist was rude and copied and pasted into google translate even though i spoke to her in Spanish and said that it said bed sheets not sleeping bags. So beware! |The bed in the dormitory was ok but we were the only 2 on top bunks even though I had booked over a month in advance and the beds were not easy to get up to. The shower was cold and you had to keep pressing the button to get running water - this was not what you needed after a long days hiking. There was no cooking facilities so we couldn't cook our own food and there wasn't even hot water for a drink. That was a blessing as we enjoyed the bars and restaurants in Deia! For the same price you could stay in hostel rather than a refugi. Having walked the GR221 I would advise avoiding...
