We stayed at the Meliá Granada in September 2025 for four nights as a couple, choosing a Level room. The overall experience was smooth and very comfortable. Our compact room felt modern, freshly renovated, and quiet enough for good rest.
There is no gym at the hotel, despite some older websites still mentioning one. The official pages are correct—there simply isn’t a fitness space. That was the only real downside for me, and it would be nice if Meliá added a yoga or exercise room in the future.
Most of our meals were outside the hotel, but breakfast in the Level lounge was excellent. I really appreciated the atmosphere there—perfect for a quiet hour of emails with coffee or simply enjoying the panoramic views across the city and the Alhambra. In the evenings, the lounge offered cocktails and, to my surprise, also non-alcoholic options like alcohol-free gin, which I thought was a great touch only to be surpassed if they would also offer non-alcoholic cava as a standard.
The Wi-Fi was fast and stable, both in the room and in the lounge, and the seating setup in the lounge made it easy to do some remote work. Service throughout was consistently excellent: quick, attentive, and at the extraordinary high standard I’ve come to expect from MELIÃ. As Platinum guests, we felt warmly welcomed right from the start.
The hotel’s location is hard to beat, right in the city center, with almost everything walkable. Parking is available next door in a public garage with reserved spaces (attention: only for small to normal-sized cars); I paid €20 per night, which was fine and convenient enough for driving into the city.
What really makes this property stand out is the hospitality and service quality from the Level staff and the Level lounge. The views from the terrace are spectacular, and for anyone considering a stay, I would say the lounge access is well worth it. Overall, this was an excellent base for exploring Granada, with polished service, strong Wi-Fi, and a unique lounge experience. The absence of a gym is the only real miss, but if you value views, central location, and a relaxed atmosphere, Meliá Granada is a...

I travel a lot, but my stay at Meliá Granada was a very unpleasant experience that completely ruined our time there. If anyone ever tries to sell you a LEVEL upgrade, be very careful — we were lied to on every point.
When we arrived at 8:10 p.m., the charming Raoul offered us the LEVEL upgrade for €95 per night, telling us that: • we would get a nicer room, • we would have a view of the Alhambra, • we would have access to the Lounge with drinks and tapas included, • and that we could have a late check-out until 4:00 p.m.
After we agreed and paid, he suddenly mentioned that drinks and tapas were only available until 7:00 p.m., meaning we couldn’t enjoy them on our first night, even though we had paid for it. Fine — we mainly cared about the room upgrade and the late check-out anyway.
When we got to the room, it was exactly like the one I had originally booked. The walls were dirty, the furniture was damaged, and worst of all, there was no view of the Alhambra. It was completely false (see pictures). We complained, but once we had paid, Raoul became far less charming.
The worst part came later. Since we had our visit to the Alhambra on our last day, we were happy to have the late check-out. Just to be polite, I mentioned to the front desk that we’d probably leave around 2:00 p.m. But no — suddenly, that was no longer possible. When we expressed our confusion to Adrián, who clearly didn’t care at all, he told us to come back the next day to check again. In the end, we had to cut our visit to the Alhambra short just to make it back for regular check-out time. Then, because we were visibly unhappy, they finally allowed us to stay until 2:00 p.m. — but by then, it was too late. The damage was done.
In short, we were completely scammed.
On top of that, we were treated with condescension. We travel a lot, and we are always kind, easygoing, and understanding, but this experience really made us feel bad during our two...

Rating: 2/5 Disappointing Check-in Experience Compared to Other Melia Hotels
This was our first experience at a Melia hotel in Spain, and unfortunately, it left us quite disappointed, especially in comparison to our experiences at Melia hotels outside Spain. Given that this is their home country, we were expecting a much warmer welcome and better service, particularly at check-in and when we got to our room.
There was no warm greeting upon arrival from the gentlemanat the front desk, and the check-in process took longer than expected as he seemed to struggle to find our booking. Worse yet, the request we had made in advance was completely ignored.
Usually when we have our toddler with us, the hotels provided a larger room to accommodate the extra crib but once again, that was not the case.
As Melia Gold members, we were surprised by how indifferent the staff were, especially when we had to practically ask not to be charge for breakfast which we are meant to receive without an extra fee. The status seems to hold no value at this hotel, unlike our experiences with Hilton or Marriott where status is recognized and appreciated.
We are now questioning whether we should reconsider staying at Melia hotels in the future, particularly in the US, after this experience. This stay was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
The only saving grace was the gentleman who took us to our room—he provided the level of service we had hoped for. The location of the hotel is also excellent, and these are the only reasons we’re...
