Overall the site is worth five stars. The staff are excellent, speak English and are very helpful. The main pitches are well defined and the facilities excellent and well maintained. There is a shop with basics, a restaurant and bar. A swimming pool open in high season. The town is a short walk away. The only criticism one can make is to criticize the layout and electrical provision on what one might refer to as "the big field" , where caravans and motorhomes are sent if individual pitches are full. Basically, an unnmarked grassy area normally designated for tents and referred to on the site plan as a "no plot camping area" , with no pitch demarcation and so few electric points that we watched motorhomes arrive and then leave, or go round in circles searching for an electric point within reach of a possible parking space. And the first to arrive in many cases seemed to have selfishly parked in such a way that what could be two pitches becomes one. It is a mess. We were fortunate that, although allocated this area, we managed to negotiate a marked pitch vacated early. I would otherwise have considered leaving. The site was unusually busy that weekend and the management just kept sending more and more units to an overcrowded area. The area came to resemble a car park such was the lack of spacing between units. The campsite is otherwise excellent. Just pray that you are not dispatched to serve time in the no plot big field on a busy weekend. We came for four nights, stayed for ten. A positive recommendation in itself. There is much to be seen in the area. Assuming you are mobile and not driving an impractical ....in terms of visiting and touring...
Read moreWarm welcome on arrival and flat good sized pitches some with shade. There’s an option of 6 or 10 amp using UK connections.||Accessible water point on the way in and also taps near pitches.||Heated toilet block which is kept meticulously clean and there’s ample hot water. Dishwashing and laundry in the block.||There’s a bar/restaurant on site and while we didn’t use it, it seemed popular.||Free wiffy is a bit iffy.||The swimming pool wasn’t open when we were there.||The site is very quiet and peaceful and extremely conveniently placed being within walking distance of the town, bodegas, bus and train links.||Being in the heart of the Rioja region a tour of a bodega is de regueur. ||Originally emailed Gomez Cruzado to book online. Didn’t have the courtesy of a reply and when we phoned we were told that fortunately the English tour had departed.||So glad as we phoned CVNE who were far more accommodating though we had to get our skates on to get there in time after being let down by Gomez Cruzado.||There was an English Language tour at 11am. Really worth the 20euro. An informative hour tour ending with wine tasting and nibbles. We also got to keep the monogrammed glasses.||On another day we caught the bus to Lograno and enjoyed a meander...
Read moreWe stayed in a Bungalow, a treat after almost five weeks camping! |The accommodation is basic, but comfortable with essential cooking utensils provided. No cooker, but gas hob, microwave and fridge and a TV with Spanish channels.|Nice shower with hit water although the boiler doesn’t quite manage two consecutive showers in a morning! There is great heating too.||The only slight gripe would be with the seating in the communal area, it’s not comfortable at all and the cover makes you feel like you’ve wet yourself. I understand it’s necessary from a cleaning perspective, but never the less it’s not comfortable.|The bedrooms are very small but the beds are comfy. |Linen is provided but not towels and there is a small washing up kit.|There is parking outside the bungalow.|You have to pay a €100 deposit which is returned on leaving if the bungalow is left clean, otherwise they will take a €50 cleaning fee.|The site is secure with a card for the barrier and within walking distance of the town and many Bodegas.|The camping pitches look great too.|Would definitely recommend … seems like people use it enough route to / from the ferry at...
