Terrible Experience at NH Madrid Paseo de la Habana
I had an absolutely horrible experience at NH Madrid Paseo de la Habana, and I feel it’s important to share so others avoid this nightmare.
I paid 315 Euros per night for a room that was nothing short of a disaster. Upon arrival, I was given a room with non-functional ventilation and windows that wouldn't open. Making it impossible to get any fresh air. After complaining, I was moved to another room, but this one was equally bad. The ventilation didn’t work either, and the room temperature was higher than outside. When I raised this issue, the staff said they would fix it — but their solution was to open the window while I was away, which I found completely unacceptable.
The real shock came during the night when I suddenly woke up feeling something moving on my body. To my horror, I discovered that a lizard had gotten into the room and was crawling on my bed. This was beyond disgusting and terrifying. When I complained, the staff couldn’t even understand English, making it even more frustrating.
Since I booked through Hotels.com, I reached out to them to try and resolve the situation, but the hotel staff was of no help whatsoever. This experience has made me seriously question why I chose to stay at NH Madrid Paseo de la Habana. The lack of proper maintenance, unhelpful staff, and the shocking incident with the lizard left me traumatized. At 315 Euros per night, I expected far better. I will never stay at this hotel again and strongly advise others...

This compact, cozy room is ideal for solo travelers seeking a convenient short stay for business or semester encounter for hybrid learning in Madrid. Easily reachable from Madrid-Bajaras Airport via a short metro ride from Aeropeurto Terminal 4 to Colombia station (approximately 20 mins ride), followed by a brief walk of about 6 min or 450m to the hotel. It is also located very near to the ISDE - Higher Institutes of Law and Economics (approximately 8 min walk or 650m), where I did my semester encounter. This hotel ticks all the boxes for location and accessibility.
Amenities, such as a nearby supermarket, are just few steps away. However, the hotel's free Wi-Fi leaves a lot to be desired. For a better connection, you'll have to pay an additional fee. Furthermore, the promise of complimentary mineral water after housekeeping was never fulfilled, every times need to call the reception to ask to housekeeper to deliver the mineral water. Despite these issues, the hotel remains a good choice for its comfort and...

Internet is lazy and only works from time to time.
On top, service at reception is disapointing! It is super slow and around 23h45 you are unable to do checkout to avoid ques in the day after, because system is blablabla (I could not even understand what the receptionist said about it)... But the worst, this was just said, without any empathy or willigness to please the customer who is trying to pay.... Unbelievable! For me reception reflects hotels' standard and how important the client is for the hotel. From my experience, it was too obvious... I've stayed in this hotel for the first time and just because my regular one was full...and by this experience the chance that I'm back is almost...
