The hotel itself is quaint and good value for money, at the time we stayed there a lot of the other guests we chatted to were regularly returned to the hotel at the same time every year which says a lot about the place.
While the hotel is in close proximity to Puerto Rico shopping centre, there are a lot more steps than on the other side of the valley but we loved the chance to stretch our legs and get in a bit of exercise while on holiday. Most guests chose to use a taxi with the average cost being around 3-4 euros per one way trip.
There is mini supermarket onsite that sells essentials I recommend buying the large 8 litre bottles of water from here as they are reasonably priced. Additionally freshly baked bread rolls, croissants and danishes are available each morning, it opens from 8am - 6pm.
The pool while it isn't the biggest is adequate enough to cool down and have a little swim when you want to escape the heat of the sun. There are two toilet blocks located near the pool each with two outdoor showers in case you want to wash the chlorine off after you've been in the pool.
The hotel supplies lounger cushions for the sun loungers which are both thick and comfortable, however bear in mind they can get pretty hot in the sun so it's best to cover them with a towel.
Each room comes with a decent sized patio with two lounger chairs, one patio chair, patio table and parasol which is great when you want to relax by your room or eat something you've made.
The aircon in the room itself is modern and very efficient and comes for free. Each kitchen is equipped with a fridge, hob, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, filter coffee machine and breakfast bar with 3 stools. The mattresses on the beds are good quality, firm and comfortable. There is a safe in the wardrobe which there is a charge for, the cost is 2 euros a day plus a 10 euro deposit for the activator key which is refunded when you return the activator key.
The only two downsides to the hotel when we stayed there were the WiFi is shockingly bad in terms of speed, connectivity and range. So if you plan on relying on it for streaming music or checking emails etc don't as it constantly goes down and can only accessed when you're near your room.
Unfortunately after there first few days we were there we started to experience towelgate, yes you guessed it people reserving sun loungers with towels the majority of which were done by Brits. Why people think it is acceptable behaviour to do this is beyond me especially when they may only use the lounger for an hour out of the entire day.
Of course the hotel's policy is that you cannot do this but given that reception is only open from 12:00 to 20:00 each day, the likelihood there will be no one there to complain to. My advice to anyone experiencing this problem is to remove the offending person's/persons towels fold them up nicely and put them elsewhere while you put down your own, providing you're actually going to use the...

Read moreJust arrived back from a week’s holiday staying at Rocamar in room 505. This is one of only two, two bedroom apartments that they have in the complex. If you are considering let me save you some money! Don’t bother, this place is one of the worst places that we have stayed at for a long time, the apartment was beyond shabby and in need of total renovation, it was not even clean when we arrived with hair and dust in every room. The bed sheets were threadbare and not changed during our stay, we had to request towels to be changed, and the first lot of clean towels that were in the bathroom when we arrived had makeup stains on them ! The staff on reception were ok, but the staff member who ran the pool bar in the morning was terrible, he was rude and shouted at you if you had not done what he thinks is the correct way of serving you your terrible breakfast and drinks yourself. The food on the included breakfast was just awful with all cheap ingredients used. There are shouty signs every were telling you what you cannot do, and you are instructed at checking in that reading of the rules is mandatory!!!! This was definitely a Faulty Towers hotel !!! And one not to be repeated. Stay next door at Hartaguna its is a million...
