Had a nice time this week at the hotel but there are some improvements needed.||- 10€ cash deposit per person required for a beach towel|- 20€ cash deposit required if you want the key to room safe ||There is an ATM near the hotel if you don’t carry cash.||The staff are amazing. Everyone from the maintenance and cleaning crew to reception to the restaurant and bar stare were always so cheerful and friendly. ||Special mentions go to Carmela on reception and to Richard and Marc in the restaurant for providing excellent and friendly service.||There is easy direct access to the lovely sandy beach from the pool/bar area. In the sea the ground level varies as you head out.||The room:|We used a taxi company recommended by the hotel which was 80€ each way to/from Palma airport. Our room was ready when we arrived which was a nice touch. ||The room was comfy, clean and spacious. We had a lovely sea view.||Twin beds were pushed together which wasn’t great and the beds did move occasionally but this is common at a lot of hotels.||The bedroom and lounge had their own independent aircon switches so you can run different temperatures for your comfort.||A small selection of TV channels incl some of the British ones. ||The room was cleaned almost daily with the ‘non’ days being our choice to put the ‘No’ sign on the door. ||Room Negative:|Our room was very close to the ‘Nu’ club/bar next to the hotel and this place blasts music from early afternoon until late on the evening. Disrupted our sleep over the weekend. |- closing bedroom door helped a little. Maybe they could be approached to contribute to some sound proofing for rooms close to it?||Restaurant:|Occasional queues to get in at the start of meal times and later in the service window to get tables.||Occasional queues to get food but some if this were children self serving. There were a wide variety of foods offered with each meal but lots of repeats.||A highlight of meal times were the Garlic bread and the Roast station. The roast station on some meals offered lovely items like roast turkey or roast beef.||Quality sometimes lacked.||IMPORTANT|- if getting chicken from the grill station, slice it and inspect before eating. Cooking quality varied and some pieces were pink and in one meal half cooked/half raw||Check your plate too. Had one incident where I took a plate from the pile and found Nutella on my fingers. Flagged to a staff member who inspected and removed half the stack due to food still stuck on the bottom.||Restaurant negative|- there seemed to be no aircon and temperature often felt unpleasant. After one evening meal I needed to change again due to sweating so much.||- Proper theme nights would have been nice. Some meals partially had.||- the lock on the bathroom door was a joke. I was locked it and while using, someone barged straight in despite me telling ‘occupied’ as they tried to enter ||The pool and sandy bar:|The hotel is not big and neither is the pool. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool. The pool is not deep but when busy was not a place to swim, more bob in the water and play ball games with the others in the group.||Some day time activities were run. Check the wall by the pool table for the schedule for the week.||One of the umbrellas was damaged and could not be raised. The life guard helped by using a twig to keep it up ||There is only one toilet block with one M and one F cubicle located behind the kids pool/den area. It frequently ran out of hand towels.||The Sandy bar is the only place to get water when the restaurant is closed. The bar is small and busy with queues averaging 10 people which was annoying at times.||Evening entertainment was run including a daily mini disco for the kids and some form of event/show later. ||Special kudos to the lady ran runs the Mini disco. On a day on wet stormy night, she set up in the covered part of the Sandy Bar and ran the mini disco there.||If you are not All Inclusive, there are supermarkets across the road from the hotel.||Suggestions to the hotel:|1. please consider adding a water filling station in the pool area which can be accessed 24hrs a day to avoid queuing the Sandy Bar and/or access to the machine in the restaurant outside if meal times |2. Aircon in restaurant |3. Some seating in a cool area |4. Better locks for the public bathrooms |5. Sound proofing for the rooms close to the Nu bar ||Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and friendly nature.| |Well worth a visit. Enjoy your...
Read moreWe chose this hotel based on reviews and with it being a smaller hotel compared to the others in the area. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment with sea view which was absolutely fab and was quite cheap to upgrade from a studio at the time of booking. (We did notice if we had booked the same holiday a couple of months later the price went up by £1500) The balcony was large, there were only 2 of us so found the apartment was quite spacious. Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and our apartment was spotlessly clean every day. A lot of guests seemed to be all inclusive but we went self catering as we like to eat out. The amenities for self catering were very basic, we had to request a kettle as there wasnt one but it was brought to the room straight away. We also requested a toaster but were told these are not included. We managed with what we had as we eat out anyway but if you're wanting to make a meal then there's not the items to do this unless just making a sandwich. Overall we were really pleased we chose this hotel due to the location, the room and the large balcony & our apartment was lovely and quiet. We only had our first day at the pool as we prefer the beach but the pool area was busy every day but plenty of sunbeds and was clean. There's the beach bar for snacks and drinks and we liked the atmosphere as they play music, mainly reggae which was great, rather than the loud boom boom rubbish you hear in some places. The sunbeds on the beach are not the hotels so there is a charge of 21 euros per day which we didnt mind as it was much more pleasant with a sea breeze in such hot weather. We tried a few restaurants not far from the hotel but found them not to be great and quite expensive so ended up travelling to Aludia Port and Can Picafort to eat out a few nights. The bus stops are right outside the hotel and really easy to use the bus service. I would say this is a great hotel if you like it in Playa De Muro/Alcudia as some of the other hotels dont look too nice and a lot are quite far from anything. As for the big hotels near the beach, the rooms are tiny and the balconys are soo small. We felt really lucky to have so much room for not a large price unlike the bigger hotels. Oh and you can have beach towels you can change 3 times per week for a deposit of 10 euros each and the room safe is a deposit of 20 euros which obviously you get back on checking out unlike some resorts where you have to pay. (Saw reviews moaning about this but you get it back so not seeing the issue). In all honesty we really liked this hotel as the main thing is cleanliness so was an absolute bonus to have the room and view that we had. If you're in a sea view room watch the sunrise from the balcony or even better, go sit on the beach,...
Read moreHaving been to a few resorts around Spain, including just up the beach at an Iberostar, we had some expectations of what we were getting but Ses Fotges exceeded them entirely!
The location is perfect, what a great strip of beach in Muro! The property is very clean, the staff are on top of it and mopping hallways several times a day and always saying hello when you walk by. We were all smiles when we first opened our door the our apartment, the kids were in awe of the beautiful sea view and the serenity of the clean crisp room. Our girls shared 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds, husband and I had the "master" and our son used the sofa bed - everyone was more than happy with their sleeping arrangements. The bathroom is spacious, for 5 people (2 teenagers) that was a big plus, and the little kitchen was a nice touch.
We did All Inclusive and it was well worth it, the beer on tap is the common Spanish beer Estrealla Damm which was great alone or in a shandy. The rose wine was meh but the red and white were more than adequate. Kids loved the endless sodas and ice cream treats. The snack bar is really great for pool and beach days - also big fans of the ham and cheese sandwiches and veg wraps! The snack bar AI menu is limited but it's great for what we needed and it's perfectly timed between the meal times in the main resto. The breakfast buffet was lovely, the pancakes are yummy! There are plenty of options for people to pick from including fresh eggs. The lunch and dinner were similar, quite a bit of selection and adequate. The bulk of tourists in Mallorca are usually from UK or Germany so we noticed the food does cater to those preferences a bit - weiners, chicken nuggets, etc. - while the nuggets were actually tasty the night I tried them I'd prefer more Spanish/Med food options. The seafood Paella was one of my favourite dishes and our son was obsessed with the chocolate mousse.
Last but not least, the staff here are AMAZING! We were actually quite sad to leave because we had such a great time with the group of people working in this resort. Specifically Mohamed and Eva, these two are humans are GEMS, genuinely great people. We honestly cannot say enough nice things about them, they made our vacation and we looked forward to seeing them every day. We want to go back just to visit them again! Elio, Emilio, Rafaela and Alex were also great! Rafaela was so thoughtful in getting kids involved in activities during the day and hosting fun events at night. The staff treated our family so well. Whoever is responsible for hiring has done a wonderful...
