This July/August, the Allen family travelled to Prinsotel La Dorada for the fifth time. There are so many thankyou's that my family and I would like to extend to you all but I'll be writing for days.||Management. Manu and Marco thank you for your attentiveness, attention to detail, kindness and providing us with laughs! Marco, your rendition of Barbie on our last day was something we will never forget (whether we like it or not). You visibly go above and beyond every single day. Jacob and Millie absolutely adore you for everything you do. Thank you.||Kids Entertainment. The team, led by Oliwia and Norbert, are absolutely sensational! They create new, fun and innovative activities for children of all ages every single day as well as relying on some staple and very popular activities. They also provide fun activities for adults to get involved in. I am definitely not competitive...... but if I, or anyone reading this might be, please try your hand at water polo! The 'Animacion' team work tirelessly with unending enthusiasm and charisma to provide our children with a fun and safe environment. They even choreographed and produced a rendition of The Lion King which would rival The Lyceum's Lion King Production any day of the week! It was superb! You are all very special individuals and I thank you for helping to create some truly brilliant memories for my family!||"Mini mini disco! Mini mini disco"! ||Food. Exceptional. I am admittedly a bit of a food snob so I have to credit where credit is definitely due. The consistency of the quality and variety of the food every time we have been to Prins has been truly outstanding. I have to give a special shout out to the chef that makes the omelettes to order every single morning. He visibly takes so much pride in each and every omelette he serves up and my goodness they are delicious! Don't. Change. Anything. It works!||Accommodation. We have stayed in every type of room. From the smallest to the biggest and we would happily stay in any of them again. They have a Scandinavian feel to them with their quality, simplicity and excellent utilisation of space. This year we were fortunate enough to stay in the penthouse/rooftop suite that was monumentally brilliant! Amazing views and an amazing space to relax and watch the sunset/sunrise. ||Receptionists. I love the fact that so many of the staff at Prins return to work there season after season. Tells you a lot about the quality of the workplace and managers that staff want to return! This is also apparent with the reception staff who are always incredibly helpful, engaging and informative. They have known the answers to every query we have had and if they haven't they have pointed us in the right direction. Bravo!||The Pool. Always immaculate! Cleaned thoroughly every day by the grounds team. The pools are simple but cater to all. A heated section. A huge inflatable dome in the kids pool is an awesome new addition to the hotel.||Location. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to one of the highest rated blue flag beaches in Mallorca. Crystal clear water. Shallow and safe for the children. Outside the hotel there is a stretch of different bars and restaurants with busses running to nearby towns.||Manuel, Marco, Oliwia, Norbert, Laura, Patricia, Oscar, Maria, Rita, to name only a few - thank you thank you thank you!||We are already planning our next trip to see you all!||Rich, Laura,...
Read moreUpdate: Hotel have been in touch and addressed. A lot of my concerns. Appreciated the response and feedback.
We have stayed in Iberostars a lot, Sheratons and other 4 star resorts locally and in Europe and assumed this would be on par… it’s not. If you’re a foodie, this isn’t the place for you!
The biggest issue was the Winners à la carte restaurant. Despite being a family resort, we were told there was no children’s menu and no alternatives offered. When I asked if my children (4 years old and 9 months old) could at least eat from the buffet, I was told no. Eventually, we had to take them to the buffet ourselves just so they had something to eat. Shockingly, a staff member even said the children were allowed only one plate of food – an absurd and unacceptable restriction for a family resort. To make matters worse, my husband became very unwell the next day, which we can only assume was linked to the food at Winners.
The food overall was very poor: repetitive, cold, fried, and with no Spanish influence. Pasta area was always the same. Frying stations just piling it high, nothing cooked to order. Lots of boiled veg, small salad bar, people pushing constantly in the way. Breakfast even offered chicken nuggets and onion rings. (NOT four star quality at all!!) who’s eating that for breakfast?!
Most food options were beige, unappealing, and often cold. Plates were dirty, and the setup felt unhygienic.
Service throughout was impersonal and minimal – very different from what reviews promised. Housekeeping was below standard (crumbs and cups left untouched), and my son’s cot broke in the middle of the night, which was a serious safety concern.
“Club” benefits were also misleading: the lounge only offered apple juice despite listing ‘juices’, the terrace wasn’t exclusive as no one is checking it, and there was no private check-in or check-out as stated either. Nobody even asked about our stay when we left.
The pool room was nice, and our daughter enjoyed herself, but nearly every other aspect of this hotel was a letdown. Kids club is good but then there’s a lot of rude people here who constantly push queues etc, that’s not hotels fault but worth knowing. Having to wake up at 8am daily to reserve a sunbed was just another frustration. If you don’t reserve before 10am, you’re simply not getting a bed. People who say you are, are wrong.
Overall, the stay was far below 4-star standard, and the way children were treated at Winners was completely unacceptable. Definitely not worth the money.
I’m even more frustrated I went privately to discuss my concerns and no one has replied despite saying they will. Just proves the service is lacking. The reviews make you think this place is amazing for food and service but I’m honestly not sure why.
The lunch a la carte ‘Salt and co’ is the best restaurant here, fresh and lovely plates of food and the Picco restaurant which seems connected but ran separately are great. But the main buffet is awful and really let the holiday down.
Resort is good, plenty of pools, things to do for kids under 10, mini disco lovely but the other parts that make up a holiday in my eyes were rubbish.

Read moreWe had been at Prinsotel La Dorada as a family of four with a 9-year-old child for 6 nights, in general the hotel is very good and ideal for families with small children, but maybe not for a 9-year-old child.
When we arrived, we had a meal in the swimming pool bar, the Margherita pizza was too sweet and the premium burgers were not really premium, the meat was way too hard.
The breakfast was almost fabulous, unfortunately most cakes were from industrial production and not really tasty. The ensaimada, the most popular cake from Mallorca, should have been at very least fresh, not industrial and tasteless. The coffee quality could be better, this hotel serves an international audience, it should have natural roast coffee. We were also appalled they stopped serving coffee at 10:30 when people were still eating, this is unacceptable at 4-star hotel, we were given the coffee at 10:35 and at 10:43 after complaining though.
The apartment was good and the beds comfortable, the air conditioning could be better, but then this could have been due to heat wave. The apartment does not have enough sockets for 4 people, we had to disconnect the TVs, and make use of the kitchen and bathroom sockets to charge our devices. The beds were made and the towels replaced every day, maybe the towels should not be replaced every day. Washing up liquid and sponge were missing; this is unacceptable at 4-star hotel, the hotel spends money in free merchandising, the hotel should spend money in washing up liquid and sponge too.
We did not like the fact that the balcony lights could not be individually turned off, this is not only not acceptable for environmental reasons, but also because the apartment was facing a natural reserve full of mosquitoes, we had to close the doors before dark to avoid the mosquitoes and it worked well.
We did online check-in and sent our national ID details in advance, whilst the online check-in is not compulsory, it is compulsory by law in Spain to register all guests with national ID/passport details, these details are sent to the Spanish authorities. We have received an e-mail confirmation that the online check-in was successful, however this e-mail confirmation came with a terrible surprise. The e-mail confirmation refers to Regulation “(EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data”, however this e-mail does not follow such regulation as it included all the details from our national ID cards, this is a serious breech and should never ever be done by any hotel, let alone a 4-star hotel. These details should have been kept by the hotel and not send over the internet; the online check-in e-mail confirmation should never include any sensitive personal information. The Prinsotel La Dorada really needs to reconsider how sensitive personal information is processed by their systems.
I still recommend Prinsotel La Dorada, though the points mentioned above need to be improved, particularly the online...
