Clean and modern hotel in central location
Myself and a friend stayed for two weekday nights in August. Our room rate did not include breakfast.
We walked with our suitcases from Oviedo bus station, using Google Maps to locate hotel. If walking along C. Manuel Garcia Conde road from the bus station, turn off the footpath at the large Gascona cider barrel, walk past the front of the adjacent Burger King and carry on walking straight forward for 4 minutes to hotel (obscured, as on opposite side of a construction site).
Pros: -Helpful, attentive, and polite staff. -Clean premises and modern decor. -Large Reception Desk with English speaking staff. Map of Oviedo main sites available. -Spacious Lobby with plentiful seating. Great scented smell as well! -Free WiFi, password on check-in. -Two lifts to all floors. -Room 501, twin single beds. Keycard entry. Two door cupboard hanging space and shelves, electronic safe (free). Fridge (2x complimentary bottles of water). Wall-mounted LG TV. Table with upholstered chair. Beds with bedside tables. Telephone. Mirror. Suitcase stand. Multiple power sockets with USB charger ports. Effective and quiet air-con. Views of construction site opposite and Sacred Heart of Jesus Monument statue on Monte Naranco hill in distance. Spacious bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet, twin basins, Nuvo branded toiletries, large mirror, hairdryer, heated towel rack. -‘supera’ gym & spa - special rates available for Nuvo guests. Price depends on time of week. -Parking. -Checkout 12pm. We were kindly allowed to leave a suitcases with Reception as our train to Gijón was later in the day.
Cons: -Room - occasional noise, 8am onwards, from adjacent multi-storey “retirement homes” construction site. -Room - no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities. -Room - TV - no English language channels. -Breakfast expensive, €12pp per day. We bought spoons, bowls and food & drink from the nearby Mercadona supermarket (ask Reception Desk for directions).
Notes: -In Oviedo we visited San Salvador Cathedral and the narrow medieval streets around the cathedral, Plaza del Fontán square, Campo de San Francisco large green park (I even sat on the Mafalda bench!) and San Julián de los Prados church. -We also took the A2 public bus from Oviedo up to the Santa María del Naranco & San Miguel de Lillo hillside churches and elevated views overlooking Oviedo. Take A1 public bus back down into Oviedo. Public buses are CASH only. Fare €1.20. Max value note accepted is €10. -Oviedo is a beautiful city and well worth a two or...

Read moreThe location is excellent — less than a 10-minute walk to almost all the main attractions, and there’s a supermarket just downstairs, which was super convenient.
The only thing that took us a bit of time was figuring out how to get into the hotel. The entrance is actually through the same driveway as the supermarket’s underground parking, and parking can be a little confusing. You need to park in the white-lined spaces — not the blue-lined ones, which are private spots reserved for other businesses in the building. If you’re carrying a lot of luggage, I recommend asking the hotel for a luggage cart in advance. The walk from the white-lined area to the hotel elevator isn’t long, but with heavy bags it can be a bit of a trek.
The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. When we asked for directions to the cathedral, the front desk staff didn’t just point vaguely — he actually stepped outside with us and explained everything in detail, even showing us which streets were easier to walk. That kind of personal care really made an impression.
We stayed in a two-bedroom unit with two full bathrooms — super spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The beds and pillows were easily the best we had in Spain; I actually slept so well I didn’t want to get up — nearly 9am and I was still in bed 😅 And to top it off, we had a lovely view of the cathedral spires from our window, which made mornings even more special.
The only small downside was the bright blue light from the air conditioning control panel, which was quite harsh at night. Even covering it with a towel didn’t fully block the light.
That said, if we ever return to Oviedo, NUVÓ Hotel Boutique will be our first choice again —...
