The food and the atmosphere were unbeatable, but the service left much to be desired. I wish we knew the waiter’s name, and I wish I didn’t have to mention the next detail, but the only thing we know is that the waiter was from Venezuela. (Note: I have nothing against his nationality/where he comes from.)
My wife and I felt quite abandoned by the waiter for most of the night. He poured the cider ONCE, then I saw that he went to the next table to pour cider for them multiple times as he passed by us; After many minutes, we had to ask him to pour again. (It is also worth mentioning that it was 11 pm on a Thursday night and there were empty tables, and it wasn’t very busy). He poured the cider twice for us all night, and the second time was basically us asking him to do so.
He made me and my wife feel very abandoned since he barely came back after that; Instead of attending to us, he began to clean and set up tables (there was no one waiting to be seated); we can understand this to a point, because my wife was a waitress and always wanted to be ready for anything, but what motivated me to write this review is that HE STARTED CLEANING THE MENUS directly in front of us, making it OBVIOUS that he wanted to show us that he didn't care about attending to us.
Well, I hope the waiter can read this review, and I hope you can improve as a waiter, especially if you want to continue dedicating yourself to...
Read moreAVOID this tourist trap - Arrived in Oviedo yesterday and happened upon this Sidreria with an available table in the sun surrounded by many others having a drink hours before typical Spanish dinner hour. Ordered a bottle of cider for 2 people. Other tables were all served chips with their cider - we had to ask. When we had tasted the BAD cider and enjoyed watching the waiters spill most of the cider on the pavement while pouring, we asked how much we owed - my husband, working on his Spanish, asked a second time and in the course of 1 minute the price changed 3 times... A few minutes later we asked another waiter what we owed and he asked the first waiter, even though the mostly full bottle was there in clear view. - there are lots of wonderful Spanish restaurants who charge the same price regardless of your accent (prices are rarely...
Read moreA bit thematic, but the food is very good and portions extremely generous. Dishes are even as large or larger than the photos imply! To give you an idea, the attached photo is half of a cachopo that had to be saved for breakfasy. It hung over the edge of the platter, cheese oozing off the side.
The price is decent for the area, but don't expect it to be extraordinarily cheap. I saw no possibility of a €10 four-course meal, as mentioned below. There is a €16-17 menu of the day available at lunch time, but there's no choice involved, and it is not available for dinner, which starts at 19:30.
The restaurant seems popular with locals, as the bar area and tables filled very quickly, even on a weekday night. It's a great place to choose from Asturian classics and watch waiters pour cider in Asturian fashion. Come hungry and leave...
