Stay away unless you want to sleep in a room with whatever temperature the house hotel chooses for you and pay a lot. The weather in Seville for the last two weeks has varied from 90-65 degrees. The hotel does not have air condition available to guest and the hotel room is preset to 24c. The room felt even hotter than the preset (about 80 degrees but we couldn’t tell exactly but not comfortable to sleep) we slept with just a sheet on or no sheets at all. We were shocked a hotel of this caliber had no way for guests to control the temperature of the room. We were not able to sleep the two nights we stayed.
We called around 4 am the first night when room was not cooling. They said they would send someone, they never did. Called back at 8 am and they said they will send maintanence. Then said they couldn’t do anything it’s just set to 24 and can’t change it. Front desk simply said all they can do is give us a fan, we’re not able to move us to a better ventilated room and said they were all the same. The fan just circulated hot air.
We have stayed in many luxury Marriotts and curios- this is not the norm. l This is not a Spain thing. Plenty of hotels have air condition we can control and we had no issues at any other hotel in all of Spain for 12 days. Windows do not open either on the bedroom area, just for show.
We would never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone unless you want to spent a lot of money to sleep in a hot room you can’t control the temperature of. We were so close to checking out but we spent a lot of money on their rooms and we knew they would not give us a refund back as no one offered to relocate us or anything- not even send a glass of wine.
Hotel breakfast had very limited offering to other tribute and luxury Marriotts we have stayed. It’s fine and basic. many things were empty at 9:50 when we went when breakfast goes til 10:30am.
We requested the manager (pedro) contact us and they indicated he was given the message of our room situation and would not be contacting us as it was Sunday and he’s off and we never received even a call or email. They said they can’t do anything and we can send a email complaint to the manager. We had to keep one of the doors open to the patio to get some air in but it was not close to the beds which as a cave like place. See below photo. Even when you set the temperature to 19, it does not go down and defaults to 24. The only thing you can do is turn on the fan and that does nothing for the room that is not ventilated and cavelike. The bathroom had an off smell but seems like the hotel already knows about this problem and have done nothing from prior reviews.
This is not a Marriott managed property. We are flying back today and still have not heard from the manager. What could or should have been a great hotel stay at what they claim to be a luxury tribute collection hotel was one of the worst experiences to sleep and wished we stayed at any other hotel.
These problems are not new, the hotel is aware of the problem. (See reviews where they say they will fix but clearly still have not of similar problems for months.)
*Edit to pedro response: We used our Marriott suite credits we acquired from other stays at Marriotts to upgrade us due to loyalty w/ Marriott requested prior to our stay - and you didn’t do that because our room was hot. In fact we asked to move out of the suite to a better ventilated room even a non suite rooms so it could be less hot and staff would not and said all rooms are same.
we never said it was hot outside, I stated the temperatures in Spain were 65-90 the two week prior. It was 65 outside-70 in seville when we were there. It was still hot inside your hotel and Inside your hotel it’s 24 and guests can not control temperature. Your thermostats always said 24. Never decreased below. Marriott property...
Read moreFirst the good; great location, within minutes walking distance of many of the must see while in Sevilla sites. As many of the other reviews have stated, the rooftop bar has wonderful views and appears to be a hotspot with the local young crowd.
Now for the bad to horrible. Since our objective of our stay was to visit Sevilla sites, we opted to book their basic room. We got 104. The room was terrible. Starting with location. Technically the elevator stops at the first floor, you still have to manage 2 sets of stairs. Not necessarily a show stopper, but not luggage and retirement age friendly. Continuing with location; we woke up @ 7:30 on a Friday morning to a cacophony of unidentifiable loud sets of sounds. One of the disturbances sounded like someone practicing to be in a kumi-daiko performance. Turns out that the room is immediately above their breakfast dining room. Having breakfast we identified two of the three disturbances being the barista using the sides of a plastic 45 gallon garbage pail to empty their espresso filter. The second sound was the metal door on the glass wall being closed. Unfortunately there is no stopper so the door makes a loud bang when shut, with the lingering rattling sound of metal and glass. The third of the noisy unplesantries was construction/renovation with a grinder and mechanical chisel. It is understandable that up keep is required, but being a hotel that primarily caters to holiday vacationers, they should try to schedule maintenance to start later in the morning. By the way Saturday morning was no different.
Now for the room itself; furniture was cheap - mostly hand painted by an amateur, plastic lamp, bathroom counter was formica like, room paint incomplete-poorly done, and no clock. Additionally, there was only one usable outlet to charge electronics. One side of the bed. We were able to free up additional outlets by disconnecting the cheap plastic light, telephone, and, the two bedside lamps.
Our travel electronic equipment is typical of most travelers; each a camera and cell phone, shared 4G wifi hotspot, and a bluetooth selfie stick. Understandably, the demand for power outlets has increased dramatically over the past few years and that retrofitting older hotel rooms to accommodate these demands is prohibitively expensive. Though a permanently attached and strategically placed power strip would meet the needs of most travelers.
How the outlet in the bathroom was activated remains a mystery.
With regards to the bed and pillows; it is a bad setup when one of the pressure points while laying down is your ear.
Most of the complex, including the rooftop bar, needs, at a minimum, repainting.
While our experience with the physical accommodations was poor, bordering more on upscale hostel, in no way is this review an indictment of the staff we interacted with. They were always professional, helpful, friendly, and courteous.
Responsibility for the experience lies solely with management. They either are amateurs or just don't care.
Rated one star because like little league baseball, everyone gets a trophy for participating (and Google doesn't provide for a review without a...
Read moreCentral hotel with fantastic location, only 3 minutes walk from the Catedral. It does not have parking even though the parking option is mentioned on some booking platforms, which is misleading. If you are visiting Seville by car, be sure to plan your parking on your own and be ready to walk from parking to hotel 10-15 minutes with all your suitcases. The hotel staff did not advice us about this before our arrival even though we messaged them to ask explicitly. Upon arrival and check-in, you will most likely have to carry your luggage and find your room on your own (in my opinion the absence of this service does not comply with a 4-star hotel standard). We stayed at a "superior" room which was very big and everything inside looked new or at least - well maintained. Bathroom was ok, although the surface of the bathtube was super slippery (better be careful). Given the high price we paid for the room, we were disappointed specifically by 4 things : (1) there were areas in the room that weren't cleaned (for example lots of dust under the bed and a cigarette end thrown just outside the window - see photos) ; (2) our "superior" room had only one very small window and was very dark and the view was partially blocked by metal bars and an artificial wall overlooking what seemed to be another room's balcony - you can see from the photos ; (3) the hotel charged us every day for what seemed to be tap water in a bottle which the staff would refill daily (I thought that charging guests for water given the hotel rates was rather poor service) ; (4) the hotel did not provide any bathroom toiletries (cotton buds...) which in my opinion does not correspond to a 4-star hotel standard. The rooftop bar offers great views and atmosphere, however outside visitors are allowed and the personnel are always super busy, service is slow and there is no (or very limited) preference for the hotel guests. Breakfast was included in our room rate and in my opinion it was ok and the breakfast staff were very kind and attentive. Good job! So my overall feedback: great location, average room facilities and general service should be improved to...
