If you’re looking for a cheap, no thrills hotel to just put your head down after a long day at the beach or night out partying then this hotel is perfect for you. The check in process was super easy and the receptionist was friendly. However, his colleagues, who we encountered more frequently were not as accommodating. The room was very basic and lacked care and attention. Our room had potential to be amazing. The plugs were at the bottom of the bed. The bed easily fit 4 people. The bed itself was relatively comfortable. The air conditioning was very good. The room was in need of a fresh bit of paint. The art on the wall was torn in all 4 corners where they screwed it onto the wall disturbing the aesthetic and made it look cheap and not well thought through. The closest had a horrible smell of damp. The showers water pressure was very good, however, it did go cold by the time the second person was in there. The hotel communal areas have charisma and character but again, lacked the finishing touches. Wall lights with no covers, lights that didn’t work, some of the fixtures did not have bulbs in. The breakfast was very reasonable and had a good selection. However, we did notice that the hot food was placed out before it opened, and there was a lot of food. So no fresh food brought out through out the 4 hour service until something needed replenishing, and when it was replenished they only made very small amounts. Overall, we would stay again as we only used this hotel for somewhere to sleep after very busy days.

Without a doubt, the world's best one-star hotel! I could not believe the amazing value for money. Lovely swimming pool, huge breakfast buffet included in the price (with free cava!), modern updated bathroom, and friendly, professional staff. My friends staying down the road at a four-star hotel couldn't believe I paid literally 1/3rd the price for such high quality accommodations... they wanted to change hotels! In pricey Sitges, the El Cid is a genuine mega-bargain. No wonder it's so popular! I'll definitely be back. Many thanks to the lovely reception staff and housekeeping staff for helping to make my stay so enjoyable.

Five stars are not enough for such a great place. Friendly and accommodating staff, good location, courtesy welcome drinks, breakfast with gluten-free options, pool, beach towels, super nice welcome hall for you to sit and relax(looks more like a museum, in fact). Train station is at walking distance, as well as the beach. There is a coin laundry right across the street... you just can't beat the value of this place. Richard and César made us feel right at home and helped us out even after our stay had finished. I will for sure come back and recommend 100%

When we walked into the lobby, we thought, well, this is an old hotel but somewhat charming. The front desk staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, which turned out to be the only positive of this hotel. When we entered the room, we were shocked by how terrible it was. It was extremely small (expected), extremely tired looking (in much poorer condition than expected), had a strange smell (not really acceptable), and felt dark. There are many unfilled cracks on the wall, the bed sheets/pillow cases were very old and worn, kind of unnerving to put my face to them actually. (The bed was reasonably comfortable however.) The window/balcony faces the back of another building, and there was virtually no barrier to the next balcony. The wifi did not work at all in the room (we tried on multiple devices). The temperature control panel was partially broken so the air-con could not be controlled properly. There were one light on the ceiling and one desk lamp over the fridge, but no light at the bed side. One could barely turn in the bathroom, and there were stains on the floor/wall and scratches on the toilet seat. We could hear noise constantly from the hallway or the next room. The luggage storage was “self-served”, and the storage room also served as change room, so totally unsecured.

All of this would have been acceptable if the cost was actually 1-star tier. But it was not, it actually charged three-star prices (110€). We would have left and change hotel if we were staying longer than one night.

The quality of this hotel was...

Positives:||The room was spacious and clean with one of the biggest beds I have ever experienced.||Good housekeeping services||Hotel is well positioned to access public transport and bars & restaurants||Breakfast was well run with a good selection of things to eat. There were a few shortages of items at times and drink machines were a bit slow and not always reliable, but nothing so bad.||Negatives:||The staff at reception were of varying friendliness and helpfulness. I didn't always feel comfortable asking questions (which should never be the case)||There were issues around a bedside lamp and fridge in the room. The bedside lamp got resolved. The maintenance guy said they would look into the fridge when the room was vacated. ||The air conditioning leaked some water on to my head one night I was there which threw me. I slept on the other side of the bed but eventually returned when it didn't happen for two nights afterwards. But not a great thing to happen.||There was no kettle in the room which was disappointing not to be able to make a morning coffee or tea. I could bring one up from the breakfast room but not the same as making one when I wanted to. ||All in all a mixed bag. I would stay here again but they need to look at these negatives and...
