I have experienced both good things and bad things. First, I should say that I’ve met really nice people there. I think the hostel garden is quite good to make new friends because you basically need to sit all together. Not many different space, so you see people and talk. But to be honest, the surf package they’re providing is too expensive. It’s 20.000 rupee a day, around 60 euros and I think you can easily spend way less money including breakfast, dinner and 2 hours surf class a day.
For the surf classes, I should say that I am not satisfied. It was 2 hours every morning in a group. I didn’t feel like teachers really can observe you. Also the place they choose in the water has the minimum level of waves. In the afternoon you can just grab your own board and be on your own in the water. I did my research in the good surf schools on the same beach and 1 hour private class is 5.000, you can find the same breakfast for 2.000 and the dinner is around 4.000-5.000 so I am afraid that instead of paying this money for a group surf, you can get private class and spend less money a day.
Also you’re paying the accommodation differently. So it’s not included to this price. The rooms were okay, with AC which is good. There is no soap in the rooms you should bring your own.
if you’re traveling alone, and if the surf is not the focus, then I might recommend this hostel. But if your focus is to learn surf and get better, and you’re not looking for parties and friends then I’d recommend to stay somewhere else and take private classes from...
Read moreExtremely friendly host! This is my first time staying in a hostel, and man it was such a good experience. I live in Sri Lanka and I’m a student so my finances are usually pretty tight. This hostel was very affordable, and it was so nice! The rooms were extremely clean, there was AC, the bathrooms were tidy, they provided us with towels. Our group of 4 got the bunk beds, and two people could fit on one! The rooms were very spacious. The place had such a nice sense of community as well. The host & a bunch of other staff lived in the space, and we joined them for dinner the night we stayed. Everyone was so nice. We were suppose to go to a party outside which the host recommended, however we got along so well with the guests staying there that we decided to stay & play games at the hostel. The place was a 5 min walking distance to all the restaurants & right across from the beach. Our car’s tire got punctured and the host & staff were so helpful in getting it fixed for us and assisting with our travels. 1000/10 recommend. Especially for solo female travelers! It’s very safe & feels like home away from home. I’m definitely...
Read moreI came here and checked out in within the same hours. I supposedly booked a "Deluxe" room but the room was cramped, no window, and dirty, with cigarette butts on the floor, and no where to hang clothes either. The "ladder" provided for the upper bed was also insufficient to get up safely.
My bed sheets were also stained, and with hair on them; which I showed to the desk staff. Half the building is also in construction so there is dust everywhere.
Even though I didn't stay at all they refused to return my deposit of 135 EUR. Robbed...will not be recommending them.
Oh, and they also asked for the entire payment for the stay in cash, even though this was no where advertised beforehand, and seemed surprise to learn I don't carry hundreds in cash on me when traveling into a hotel. Even though they offered me an alternative room after I said I was checking out, it was already too late, as the bad impressions had been made.
Not sure where the good reviews come from...cannot comment on the coaching, but the place itself sadly was not so nice even though the people seemed really friendly...
