Quality Friends hotel is right next to Friends Arena and the Mall of Scandinavia. Close to the commuter train station (just walk through the shopping centre straight ahead). Stay here if you are going to visit the arena but also for shopping and it takes only 8 minutes by commuter train (bus at night) into city.
The reception is nice, enclosed with a small sitting area and has many staff (3-4 when we stayed there). Further in there is also a bar. There is also a smaller kiosk with soda, candy and hygiene items. Check-in went quickly and the staff pleasant. We had make an email contact with the hotel in advance and they guaranteed us a certain room. Good service at e-mail, the staffs who replies has good knowledge about the rooms. You found 5 lifts that are spacious who bring you up to your room. They play nice music at the lifts which makes you in a good mood. The hotel corridors are bright and fresh. A smaller restaurant is located at the top with a nice view, friendly staff who immediately pay attention to their guests on arrival.
We had booked Superior Double Room (single beds) where each bed is 105 cm wide. Our room was on the 10th floor and when you sit by the window you get the impression of being in a global metropolis. The windows in this corner room is 3, big and facing 2 weather directions. Inside the door is a thin wardrobe where clothes hanger is hidden on the inside, outside hook and a wardrobe door that conceals the iron with ironing board. Two wine glasses are also available (good!). The room has air conditioning who working silent and there is also an instruction on how to use it. The beds are comfortable. Each bed has a bedside table with power outlets. The Internet works well (Free Telia Wifi). A modern armchair for sitting, a desk with a chair and coffee machine, telephone with various speed dial buttons. There is also an empty fridge where you can place your own goods. The bathroom is modern, bright and the lighting can be adjusted. Toilet paper is soft. Just in our bathroom there was also a bathtub. The negative was that the glass door that serves as protection when you shower is too short so water will still flow on the floor. No bathroom products (like some other Nordic Choice) without the shower cream who come from Dove and smell good.
What I missed was information in the room about, for example, breakfast times. It is common for now days to stop using printed information (environmentally friendly), but then it usually appears on the TV. There is no information on the TV except about brunch and taxi. There is also no instruction for the coffee machine if you are not familiar with them. Ice can be picked up at the bar. You can also not mirror your mobile on the TV, screen mirror.
The breakfast is served above the reception floor but should be open longe, until 11:00 on weekends. The breakfast room is big but they have too much long tables. If you are a couples you not want to sit there. You found the breakfast food at different stations, good because queue is avoided. To my disappointment, I notice that next to all the hot food containers are completely empty or have only some products left, the cream finish, same as the jelly. They offer a standard breakfast but nothing stands out. No fresh berries. Like hot food and they offer sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes and something more that was hard to see what it is, beans? The sausage not look good, the skin is wrinkled and looks dry. The best thing was the bacon. They can do better because they have a lot of staff. What weighs up this badly experienced was the woman who walks around and serves coffee at the tables. She is very nice. She also stops guests and asking what they think off the buffet and was genuine interest for the guests.
In summary, a clean, quiet, modern and very nice hotel where the corner rooms stand out. But they have to improve the breakfast. They breakfast make the day! They also need to clean some of the chairs who has a lot of stains. Several of the staff seems to be something extra in...
Read moreI stayed here with friends recently on a recent trip and boy oh boy did this hotel drop the ball, from check-in right through to check-out, this hotel consistently delivered an average to below-average experience, this also is not a reflection for the event I was attending, but the hotel also let that event down to.
Check-in was busy, and we were greeted by a very unhappy non-smiling hotel receptionist, my friend who can make anyone smile, even said a funny joke and there was no reaction, they did honour his request for an extra-room key and a room near the elevators as he was recovering from a leg injury.
We went to the room and this was okay, a big shower, big bed and space to do work if I needed, unfortunately the room wasn't touched or cleaned for FIVE days, no one knocked on the door, no one cleaned the room and we had a big pile of rubbish and very damp towels by check-out. I did request a room clean from one of the staff and she said we had to request it via reception, even though they were cleaning a room two doors down?!
Breakfast was another letdown, I went down to see some member of staff arguing with a guest over breakfast tickets, which I was never asked for, and by 8:30am the place was over-run by kids, no space and people queueing everywhere for tea and coffee, on some food stations, the food had run out! and no one seemed to be replenishing them fast enough, the following day was so bad, guests were eating breakfast in a stairwell near the main restaurant and the event I was attending's reception area!
The dance convention I was attending couldn't of been more helpful about the situation, but they shouldn't have be fielding questions about hotel issues.
This hotel is obviously used to big crowds and dealing with a large number of guests, so it's hitting it's targets, so they don't have to worry too much about reviews.
I'm looking forward to the automated "standard management" scripted reply they do on all the reviews here, I suspect the management are keeping the CEO happy as they seem to making a profit, so we know this is a company that is run by accountants and not by a customer...
Read moreLights won’t come on when entering the room nor does clicking the light buttons do anything. Standing in complete darkness trying to navigate the room and figure out the lighting situation. Key card required into a black box in an almost pitch black room…. cold and drafty everywhere, sub 18 degrees in many areas. Room key not working for me and multiple other guest. bartenders gave wrong directions for hotel room 8007 instead pointing me to 807. Poor directions and naming for the 2 seperate elevator systems - leading to long queues of guest using the wrong elevators. poor directions to staircase and terrible enclosed designed hallways leading to long queues. cheap feeling tech-centric design, black colors everywhere, black outlets, black black black. A view directly into dozens of neighbours rooms. Lovely… unsatisfied and disappointed with food, although this is a matter of preference.
Given the above mentioned hallway size constraints, What would people do in an emergency ? Scary...
