tl;dr Not really thought out but a good value for a short stay in nice location.
First the good stuff. The location is conveniently close to the central station, there are many food options on Vasagatan. The Wi-Fi causes no problems no at all. The property is rather clean including bathrooms/restrooms. The interior is neat and pleasant. The value is above expectations.
Then the bad stuff.
The property is kinda hard to find. There are several entrances to the building and the "Crafoord Place" sign just blends in with the environment. I found myself trying for the wrong door for quite some time. Also, the streets are laid out on a hill, so you might have to go uphill with your backpack quite a bit. The hostel is not properly thought out: many improvements could be made which do not require large investments. First off, a shoes off policy is a disaster. Stockholm is a clean city and there's absolutely no need to require people to take their shoes off. Make sure to bring your own cheapest slippers, otherwise you'll have to wear the used ones which are torn and dirty. Moreover, the smell you get from that shoe rack near the entrance is terrible. Let people wear their damn shoes inside, nothing bad is going to happen. The lockers in the room are narrow and tall, practically useless. The proper ones are in the corridor, so you have to walk back and forth to put your stuff. Make sure to bring your own padlock, otherwise you'll have to buy it. The reception people are gone after 17:00, you'll have to self check-in. If you need to rent a towel, tough luck. There are many other little things like no paper towels in the kitchen, strangely fixed sockets on the bed shelf making it hard to use them, or certain showers which provide absolutely no place to put your stuff if you don't want...
Read moreWe stayed here in May, the hostel was full but we found it really quiet. There are 3 toilets and 3 showers (I think) for everyone to use, we didn’t have any problems with waiting to use them. The black shower at the end was the nicest although did smell of urine. The other one near by could do with being re tiled. They don’t have an area to put stuff or change so all you can do is hang your clothes and towels on the door and draw the shower curtain, you literally walk into a shower room of about a metre square. The water temperature was great. The communal room was nice and had a large flatscreen tv in there and a massive table for games etc. |The owners/staff were really friendly and they emptied our bins daily. |The fee for the bed linen and towel was 70 sek for your stay which I thought was reasonable. |The kitchen was good for everything you need. |They ask you to remove your shoes when you enter and supply you with used slippers but anyone uses them when you put them back in the holder so my only tip is to take your own if you’re not keen on putting slippers on that I and many other people have worn. |Our room number 3 was a good size, has lockers (take a padlock) the bunk beds are sooo squeaky but super comfy, I slept so well.|It takes about 12/15 minutes to walk to the train station and probably 25 to walk to Gamla Stan, City hall etc. |The main shopping area is only about 12 mins walk away too and there are loads of shops. |I’d happily come back with my...
Read moreIts the youth responsibility to do something about those people. Oppressive. Horrible experience "volunteering" there, got a bed bugs infection for months. They made me work for free several hours then tried to discuss about possibly payed hours but they change how much the payment was supposed to be, they payed somebody else much more than what they promised me for the job. They had other "volunteer" working way less than me for the same bunk bed playing a discrimination scheme, disgusting. When asked why other "volunteers" had a better "deal" they couldn't answer. They made me sleep in the floor in the TV room, the coffee made me sick. They kept changing me rooms because as "volunteer" you have to sleep with the guests, for example one night there was a naked guy inside the room and he was one of the complainers. they had a guest who showed up with a huge dog and stayed there for weeks hanging out with the dog inside the hostel for days, the room where the dog was had a rotten doggy smell for days, the guests complained about that but the angry lady "managing" guessed that to be normal. They also needed me to work for free at 1 or 2 am when guests arrived and didn't have a clue about the door codes or nothing. Some of the guests were rude but that also is normal and something you should put app with for the angry lady. They ended the "volunteering" agreement within 3 days because they didnt like my "personality". They need...
