I checked into the room paying cash in advance. Keelung is of course a total disaster but this hotel is a disgrace even in Keelung. While the room with harbour view ( actually more prisoners view from mini window on a junkyard) is very small, it is just ok. But the reception staff are horrible liars. I was kept awake from midnight till 02h00 in the morning by terrible noise, clearly of work being done, either in the room next door, or close to my room. Hamer banging, metal pipes dropping and scraping over floors. When I finally had enough I called reception but that was totally useless, Mandarin only, 15 minutes later a young guy came to my room, ringing the door AT 02h15 in the morning to talk, again in Mandarin only. But the noise stopped, until about 07h00 in the morning when they started vacuuming outside my door. In the morning I went down to complain at reception where everything was denied and I was lied to, for half an hour. I had a meeting, on my return, tried again, more lies. They said it was a guest that made de noise, in which case he must have taken out the entire bathroom with him. ||They just did not want to reimburse me or compensate me in any way, so they kept lying and lying. ||A horrible place in a...
Read morePrior to my arrival at Keelung, I had read the hotel was near the train station and bus terminal. What I didn't know was, the Kuo Guang buses actually terminated across the road at the harbour (Maritime Harbor) to reach the hotel after alighting, we only needed to cross a traffic light. We travelled around Keelung mainly by bus and the 2 bus stops of at least 13 buses made it very convenient for us. The hotel was near to night markets. We followed Zhonger into Rensan Road and reached the Keelung Miaokou Night Market (which actually operates in the day time too) within 4 minutes. Perpendicular to Miaokou Night Market was Aisi Road Night Market. ||I liked the hotel room, I thought it was clean and comfortable and the water pressure was good and the view was spectacular. But on the second night at the hotel, my room was filled with the stench of cigarette smoke. I reflected that to the staff and the issue seemed resolved (or was it psychological?)||The standard of the front office staff was uneven but Rita stood out. She was professional, friendly and helped solve our early check-in issue (and the cigarette stench problem) Got to take this chance to thank her for making the stay a lot...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel on 7 - 14 Dec 2018. Things which we like of this hotel are :||1) The location is very excellent. It is walking distance from Keelung train station and city bus stop to many tourist spot in Keelung, near night market, near eateries, near early morning fish market, near shopping area and marina, near the Keelung Big sign board.||||2) Cleanliness of the room. ||||3) Coffee machine in the breakfast lounge||||Things which we do not like from this hotel:||||1) The bed is super hard||||2) The front office ladies are not friendly, do things like robots, do not have information like locals, not customer service oriented. For example: after staying for 7 days in a row, we asked for late check out (2 pm), and just like a robot, the answer is simply NO. ||||3) No heater in the room in winter. The air con system is centralized, there is no way for customer to adjust the air con to function as heater nor cooler. Basically the air con was set just to blow air just like fan.||||4) Breakfast menu is the same for 7 days. Everyday we eat...
