" Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Temple "is a century-old temple located on Zhongyi Road (North Coast Highway) in Ren'ai District, Keelung City. It is one of the four major temples in Keelung, along with Keelung Qing'an Temple, Keelung Dianji Temple, and Keelung Shaochuantou Juexiu Temple. It is the center of Keelung City God worship, especially the three important festivals every year: the "Birthday of Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Ye" on the third day of the third lunar month, the "Birthday of Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Ye" on the fourteenth day of the eighth lunar month, and the "Birthday of Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Ye" on the fourteenth day of the eighth lunar month. The Keelung City God Cultural Festival - Night Procession and the Keelung City God Cultural Festival - Daytime Procession on the 16th day of the eighth lunar month are activities that stabilize the lives of the people and pray for Keelung through processions in the city of Keelung. The old custom of giving out salty biscuits during the processions has also been preserved. Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Temple was first built in the 23rd year of Jiaqing (1818), and expanded in the 13th year of Guangxu (1887). It was finally transformed into the current location and condition in the 19th year of Guangxu (1893). Although it was affected by the war at the end of the Japanese colonial period, the renovation in 1945 also allowed the temple to be better preserved and protected. The renovation was assisted by artist Mr. Huang Guili. It has a history of more than 200 years. The shape, carvings and textures of the temple are also carefully crafted. The gods in the temple include the City God Temple, the Yin and Yang Sigong, the Civil and Military Judges, the Ox and Horse Generals, Fan Kuaizong, the Six Generals and other gods and collaborators. In particular, the Eight Generals, or the Eight Lords, are an indispensable character in the procession and are one of the highlights of the Keelung City God Temple. There are many ways to get to Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Temple. You can take a bus to Keelung Intercity Transportation Station, or take the Taiwan Railway's local (express) train or Ziqiang Express to Keelung Railway Station (South). After walking along the main road in front of the station, go to Renxiang Hospital (opposite the Ocean Plaza) and walk straight to the next intersection. You can see an ancient temple building, which is the Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Temple. There is also a "Chenghuang Temple" bus stop next to the temple. Most Keelung City buses with numbers starting with 1, 2, and 5, as well as routes 787, 788, 789, 790, and 791 will stop here. It is also the largest temple closest to the train station!

A city judicial temple which posts numerous reminders to visitors for doing good deeds- with cause and effect style of warning for doing bad things and their consequences. The temple is small but rather clean. One unique thing of the Temple is that it doesn't open both right and left gates, but instead, it opens middle gate which is generally not opened except for new year, for important visitors, such as ranking government officials.

The temple is located near Keelung bus and central train stations and faces...
