Keelung Huguo Chenghuang Temple was first built in the 23rd year of Jiaqing (1818), and expanded in the 13th year of Guangxu (1887). It was finally transformed into the current location and condition in the 19th year of Guangxu (1893). Although it was affected by the war at the end of the Japanese colonial period, the renovation in 1945 also allowed the temple to be better preserved and protected. The renovation was assisted by artist Mr. Huang Guili. It has a history of more than 200 years. The shape, carvings and textures of the temple are also carefully crafted. The gods in the temple include the City God Temple, the Yin and Yang Sigong, the Civil and Military Judges, the Ox and Horse Generals, Fan Kuaizong, the Six Generals and other gods and collaborators. In particular, the Eight Generals, or the Eight Lords, are an indispensable character in the procession and are one of the highlights of the Keelung City God Temple.
