Hua Guo Hotel Actually-The Imperial Hotel||No. 18, Lane 49. AI 3rd Road||Keelung, Taiwan||I BOOKED By "Someone" as the Hua Guo Hotel BUT it is actually The Imperial Hotel|| I booked for a month here, (And to clean my room = once a week, on Saturday) to explore the northeast & north coast. I tried to find something cheaper but I was always sent, via the internet, to Taipei. || The room has; a mini-fridge (Actually A COOLER), a tiny desk, a flat-screen TV unfortunately with NO USB connection (I “thought” all flat-screen TVs had an USB plug-in; I guess NOT), (I thought Taiwan was ahead of the world, BUT NO USB plug = Bummer), (It IS extremely, unfortunate that there IS NO USB connection. PERIOD!) a hot water boiler with 2 coffee & tea, two 600ml of water & a petite closet. The walls are THIN; I can hear people in ALL rooms, nearby! || The bathroom has; tissue, cotton swabs, a razor, 2 toothbrushes/paste, 2 small & large towels & dispensers for liquid soap & shampoo.|| Supposedly, I get a free breakfast. I wonder if it is an Asian/Chinese breakfast? (Absolutely, YES!) All I had was some toast & coffee! Sometime in the 2nd week they brought me some (0-4 & sometimes zero eggs at all, so I don’t eat breakfast) fried eggs IF it wasn’t too crowded where I couldn’t get a table to sit down; mostly! It IS not a hotel that serves breakfast for westerners! || The breakfast “bar” IS SUPPOSED to open from 7-10 AM. I’ve been there at 6:15, 6:30 AND it’s ALWAYS FULL. There are NO seats to sit down in! Then I do NOT eat breakfast! || The wi-fi seems pretty EXTREME. It’s VERY very good. I can download a podcast (30”) in 2 seconds! || There is free coffee & milk tea around the elevators on the first floor. This wi-fi IS absolutely, a 100 kbs-1000kbs. At a minimum! || Also, there is laundry on the 6th floor. It costs 40 NT$ for washing & 10 NT$ for 8 minutes of drying. There is 2 each of both machines. || Housekeeping comes once a week on Saturday. That’s the only day I’m cleaning my room. || The Taiwanese LOVE to talk or chitchat or gossip or gab, they OPEN their doors, in MY hotel, IN THE HALLWAY, without closing their doors, AND gather the hordes & talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, CONSTANTLY! It’s never ending! I’ve been here a month & IT’S PERPETUALLY for ever, ALL the day I’m here, at THIS time! OUCH! || It’s 11:30, OR 12:30 PM OR 1:30 AM OR 2:30 AM AND they’re STILL talking in the hall…..They NEVER EVER close their doors!!!!!!!!!! IT NEVER STOPS! EVER! NEVER!||Open open for breakfast IS...
Read moreThe hotel located on a side street, so much more quiet. Our room was small but adequate, no window but has good ventilation, very clean, and has all neccessities including hot water boiler, flat screen and small refrig. There are 2 elevators. It has 2 washers and dryers, using coins, detergent provided, on 6th floor, for guests to use. Breakfast is typical Taiwanese. Western choice is toast, jam and butter. In the middle of various types of shops, eating malls, local food stalls. A few blocks from Harbor front, a good place for a stroll and stop into a local cafe Ikari or Starbucks (across from Keelung train station). ZHalf block from the beginning of Miaokou night market. Read moreIt was extremely close to the night market and the staff was very helpful when we were checking in. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a place to crash for one night and check out the night market and walk around town. The hot water is really hot and they have great water pressure for showers. It is about a minute away from the night market and about 6 minutes walk from the harbor.
The walls are quite thin, so be prepared to hear your neighbors. We were on the 6th floor and the windows opened up to a brick wall view. The bed is comfortable enough but the pillows...
