Stayed for a night with a group of 10. We had three rooms right next to each other. I think each floor has 60 rooms which is quite large! Fortunately, ours were located just across the elevators. Kaoshiung was the last leg of our trip, and coming from impressive 3-star hotels in Taipei and Taichung, this one fell just a little short. I wanted a hotel near Pier 2 and any train station plus eligible for the Taiwan Tourism accommodation voucher. This is the only one that fit my needs.||We arrived at Dayi Station at around 3PM and it was extremely hot. We followed Google Maps and walked to the hotel with all our luggage. We get to the hotel lobby, and bam, we were at the wrong City Suites. We walked past City Suites Chenai because it has no visible signage by the door. It's only signage was at the top of the building and cannot be seen when walking below the building. It's only visible when you're across the street.||We were also kinda bummed that this hotel did not offer free snacks unlike all the other ones we stayed at in Taiwan. The rooms were also dark with just yellow lights, but they were spacious enough for 3-4 people. The AC took a while to cool off the hot room, but we slept comfortably at night. The sink, toilet (with Japanese bidet), and bath were separate areas which is always nice when sharing the room with 3 other people. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was nice. The redeeming quality of this hotel was the view! Our rooms had balconies facing the Kaoshiung Music Center. It was beautiful especially at night.||There were lots of cute artsy shops to explore in the area, but we didn't find many restaurants, just bars and bistros. We decided to have dinner at Takao within the hotel. We arrived at a little past 7, and was immediately told to order quickly because they will close at 9. The menu was in Chinese only, and I found that many people in Kaoshiung were not as patient as the people in Taipei, which can be a problem if you can't speak/read Chinese.||Overall, it was an okay place to...
Read moreFirst stay the weekend of October 19th with 2 rooms. Location wise, it’s convenient. There’s a convenience store around the corner, the harbor is within walking distance from the hotel and along the way an art district where you can see art installations.||Our room 513 has 2 double beds that sleeps 4. The room was fine but the complaint I have with this room is that the carpet needs to be cleaned/shampooed. There’s a large spill of what looks to be coffee at the foot of one of the beds. In hindsight I should’ve taken a photo and included it with my review.||Room 522 has 3 double beds that sleeps 6. The shower/bathing room in this room is ridiculously small. There’s no rack to place towels or change of clothing. It was very inconvenient and lacked practicality. ||Our room rate included vouchers for night snack and breakfast. There’s a wide spread of Chinese and western options. For breakfast, those of us that chose Chinese style were happily satisfied but a family member opted for the western and stated that the food was cold. The line for food moved quickly while it was slow for coffee. ||We also dined in the hotel’s seafood restaurant for dinner and had one of their packaged/fixed menus ($3,500 Taiwan dollars). Quantity of food was great but wasn’t unique. ||It appears that the hotel’s biz is primarily from tour groups. It is busy and somewhat crowded. If I were to visit Kaohsiung again, I’d be staying elsewhere that is less busy and less trafficked (just a personal...
Read morePros:||Spacious rooms - my sister and I both had a double bed to ourselves. Plenty of room for our luggage and there's a lovely armchair beside the window for you to relax/enjoy the view||Nice view of the harbour - we requested and receive a high floor room||Fairly close to the MTR - Yanchengpu is about 7-10 mins away by walk||Convenience Stores Nearby - there is a 7/11 about 5 mins away by walk and another convenience store right next to the hotel entrance||||Cons:||The tissue box & tissues smelt of BO - we're left traumatised and always check in advance now||Suffocated by Smoke from other rooms (either above or below) - our vent was spitting out smoke whilst we were sleeping. One night, it woke us up in which we complained to the reception about. Their only solution was to give us an ozone machine. (I've now read up about this and ozone machine usage with people still in the room is actually bad for their health!). Also, my sister has asthma, in which I informed the reception about. Something needs to be done about this as smoke was a majorly issue for our 5 night stage and it happened EVERY DAY & ESPECIALLY NIGHT TIME||*Breakfast was soso - large variety but fairly bland and quality wasn't great. It also finished early which for travellers can be an issue as some may prefer to sleep in.||||Summary, probably won't stay again because of the...
