It's cute that this place serves tea and pineapple cake free of charge!
I went at 4pm-ish and there was a line. I actually didn't know that you could skip the line if you would like to purchase the desserts without samples. So I queued up, and as I got closer, I realised that the line was for free tea and a pineapple cake.
The place was really nice, the staff very efficient and I decided to try because the pineapple cakes (only the pineapple cakes) are certified halal. Others don't seem to have any ingredients that contain pork/ lard but I may be wrong.
Anyway, after trying out the cake and tea, you are free to purchase them or exit with a really interesting experience. I purchased the pineapple cakes as it is perfect for souvenirs as it comes in proper boxes and personal bags as well. They also offer boxes if you have purchased a big number of cakes...
Read moreIf you're looking to buy some pineapple cakes, this is the place to go. It's an interesting concept bc it's not a traditional store that puts merchandise out in display. Instead it's more of a cafe where they give you a choice between 2 free options, tea with pineapple cake or coffee with banana cookie. Obviously there's going to be a line, but we only waited about 15-20 mins for group of 6ppl.
Service was awesome bc they were very attentive refilling drinks. I felt a bit bad since it was free though I'm sure it's part of the strategy to get you to buy the pineapple cakes
Coffee was a pour over and very good. Tea equally tasty. Now I personally don't like pineapple cakes but my wife assured me it's some of the best she's had. I enjoyed the banana cookies though. Kids really liked how the banana cookies have precut shapes so you can pop out the...
Read moreThis is a very special shop. They do not care if you purchase anything here. They can serve free pineapple tarts accompanied with a nice Chinese tea set irregardless if u have any intention to purchase after you are done eating. And best of all, they do not chase u away if you are spending ur afternoon tea session chatting away there. That's a first customer experience I have came across so far. Service aside, the pineapple tarts taste very different from the ones that can be bought in shops. It has a pastry taste that's not so buttery but it's pineapple filling is so original, as if its fresh pineapple. Unlike the common ones which has winter melon paste in them which feels a bit Q. Price wise is a little expensive but in terms of quality, I think it's pretty worth it. Can go for the free try then decide if u want to buy a box which cost around...
