To enter the fifth floor reception area and common room, one must enter though the private elevator to the right side and rear of the two main elevators. Without a key card, the main elevators will not stop on the fifth floor.
A fine establishment, the common area on the fifth floor is spacious with a living room and TV set up. There are also two large family size dining tables and multiple smaller tables with seating for four. The window is lined with a bar height countertop and multiple bar stools.
There appears to be a Switch and other board games in the TV area.
Though some rooms are located on the same floor, the entire sixth floor is where most of the rooms are. There is a single, large unisex bathroom facility. It appears most rooms have a balcony, though the doors only open about 6 cm, so at most it's used for ventilation and to hold the air conditioning units.
Breakfast is simply, consisting of hard boiled or Japanese style eggs, salad (lettuce and potato), king oyster mushrooms, a stir fry rice and corn porridge. Breads and edamame wrap up the meal. The coffee is made from whole beans and available for free throughout the day. Heh drink 10 espresso shots and you've covered the rent.
All in all a fine place and location is subjective. Being right across the street from the train station is a plus, though the neighborhood is not as modern nor popular as the city center, Taichung Civic Square area. So less popular during midweek. I believe there are around 100 beds and midweek may have just a dozen guests. The Friday and Saturday I stayed was full.
The beds are comfortable and there is a little leaf table built into the wall. One needs to activate the electricity by inserting the key card into the light switch slot.
The bed is not a twin size mattress, but a medium-firm mattress pad, so a little narrower and shorter.

Read moreStayed here 2 nights. It is a nice, modern, clean hostel with air conditioning, a modest kitchen and great location next to the train station.||You can hear street traffic in the rooms but it’s not excessive.||The hostel was very quiet due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions but staff was very helpful, attentive and spoke good English.||Bathrooms have plenty of toilets and showers and space for drying your hair or applying make up.||Breakfast is plentiful and nicely prepared. Good option to start the day. Walk to the Sun Moon Lake bus stop is 5-8 minutes just north of the hostel (staff can point you in that direction too).||Washer and dryer are also available to guests and about 50 NTD each. Cheap!||Hostel also has a small grocery store with dried foods and a fridge to store things if needed. Towels are not included which is a little bit of a bummer but not a deal breaker.||My only two items as an FYI: your keycard has to be used in the bed for the power outlet which is problematic when you need to charge something and be in the restroom.||And, the machine used to clean and purify the air in the rooms leaves a bad weird smell. It can alleviate a bit but not much. If you’re overly sensitive this will be a problem.||I would still recommend this hostel and...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights Room 6012.||Finding the hotel was easy as there’s a large sign on the facade of the building with the brand banner. Check-in was also quick and easy, after which the staff explained everything about the hotel. The reception area is also the common and dining area. The common area is superb for meeting and talking with other guests.||My bed was the lower bunk, had a privacy curtain, a private light, a USB port, an electrical point and even a fold out desk that could easily accommodate a small laptop. I thought the mattress was thin, but it wasn’t too hard to sleep in. The pillow and duvet were large and comfortable. The bed also came with a locker large enough to fit even a large backpack. ||The shared bathroom/toilets were on the same floor as the room. These were unusual by Asian standards as it was for boys and girls, although everything had a door. The bathroom, toilets, room, bed and common areas were fantastically clean. I noticed the common areas were cleaned multiple times a day.||Location wise, the hotel is perfectly is close to Taichung Main Station only 5 minutes walk away and buses to everything of interest are close by. Just like everywhere in Taiwan, there is an endless choice of restaurants and cafes in the...
