DUST, DARK ALLEY, UNCLEAN SHEETS, BEWARE
The hotel lobby is a check in area. There is no lounge or seating area. If you are driving, there is no car park assigned. You need to park right in front of the hotel, quickly unload your luggages and leave the parking space.
There are 13 levels in the building, with 2 lifts. The lifts are often slow to wait.
What made me uncomfortable is the layout of the hotel. When you exit the lift, there’s 2 sections for the rooms - left or right. The right side is ok, it looks like normal hotel. However, there are more rooms located towards the left. You will need to go past a very dark alley (especially at night) with lots of fire/exit staircase, walk further down to reach your room. I never expected more rooms over there as it seriously looks like a dead end. As you walk, you can see all the wall paint peeling, it’s really creepy.
The room is small. We could not open 2 luggages concurrently, and needed to close one and open the other one. The toilet is ok, especially the basin and toilet bowl area. It is an automatic toilet bowl. Shower is in the bathtub itself, so unfriendly for elderly given that the height of the bathtub is relatively high. It was challenging to get out of the bathtub (I’m 162cm) No toothpaste provided. I did not use the hair dryer as it looks dusty.
Carpet is beyond horrendous. It has so much dust I wonder how long they did not clean it? It looks like it has been accumulated over years. Those with dust or dust mite allergies, pls take note. They do not provide hotel slippers, pls bring your own.
Next is the cabinet. The outer layer of paint has come off. Fridge and safe are provided.
Bed looks ok UNTIL I flipped the blanket and saw:
Footstep on bedsheet One strand of lady hair underneath the bedsheet Blood on inner part of the blanket Moustache or nostril hairs on the edge of the blanket
Very evidently, they did not wash their bedsheets and blankets at all and reused them……..
Lastly, overall the hotel is soooo bad I decided to max out all my time outside until super late night hanging out at shops nearby or sitting at family mart instead of returning to my room…
Also, doesn’t need to tap key card to get to the rooms, which makes me question the level of security.
Photos attached. Raohe market is nearby, but I don’t think you should compromise comfort, piece of mind, and cleanliness over location. If you are someone who values cleanliness, I don’t think this place is for you. I hope my review will save a few travellers and allow them to have better sleep and...
Read moreFirst time in Taipei and very happy with our stay in this Hotel. It is small but the location is very ideal especially if you plan to use MRT to go around. From the Taoyuan Airport MRT, we used the access to Beimen station (green line) which directly goes to Songshan station. No need to go to Taipei Main Station to transfer. Exit 2 was just across the road from the Hotel with an escalator going up. If you need to use escalator down just use Exit 1 a few meters farther as entry. Raohe Night Market is also just a couple of minutes walk. Hotel area is quiet even at night and there are banks just beside it so currency changing was easy even during a Saturday. Poya, Watsons and 7/11 are just a few meters away. ||Check in time is 3pm so we just left our bags at front desk together with our hotel voucher since we arrived early . When we returned, room key was immediately given without any delay. Front desk was helpful, quick and could communicate in English. ||Room was comfortable in size for Taipei standards. We got the bigger twin room with 2 beds since we did not want to feel cramped even with our suitcases open. We appreciated the premium toilet which had a heated seat among other settings. (we visited during their winter season). Bathtub might be a problem for those who have limited mobility or balance since it is not sunken. Complete bathroom amenities replenished daily. I enjoyed the scent of their liquid soap. Room was made up and cleaned everyday. Bottled water was given daily without fail. Room had a small ref, cabinet and safe. Bed, pillows and linens were all comfortable and clean.||Only the breakfast was sad for me as I am not Chinese and the food selection catered to them. Stuck to breads with butter or jam or cereal for the duration of our stay. However, it was included in the room package so this is not a deal breaker for me. ||The price point was also very reasonable. Quite a steal given...
Read moreWould like to caution families, especially those with the elderly or young children, about the room facilities. I had recently stayed at the double "plus room" and was not aware it came equipped with such a compact, steep shower/bath-tub. Basically for the duration of my stay, I had to raise both my legs high above the side of the tub to get to into the shower. It was almost having to cross or jump over a hurdle...||||I was so "fortunate" enough that on last night of my stay, this daily routine crossover resulted in a fall. I was tired returning from a day of touring and did not raise one of my legs high enough into the shower. My right leg got caught and hit against the side of the tub. To break my fall face-on into the tub, I inadvertently landed on my hands and in the process, my right leg got hit second time by the tub's shower screen panel. Needless to say, i sustained bruises due to the impact.||||Imagine how dangerous it would be for the elderly with limited mobility and children using the bathtub without adult supervision. Certain room types in the hotel are fitted with such onsen-styled bathtubs but there is no effort to enable users to enter safely, or provide relevant advice/details during room booking or reservation. ||||As for the hotel reception, do not expect any warm, friendly service or greetings. Even a simple request to a male reception staff for a soap replenish drew snide remarks from him to a colleague. However, when it comes to checking out, the reception is extremely efficient to remind/ensure room check-out was prompt and not a...
