Shin Tung Nan Seafood — Restaurant in Songshan District

Locals love this place. When we visited it was packed with locals. Coming from SG and HK, we felt every dish was overcooked. Seafood is meant to be eaten tender, fresh and succulent, but here they are overcooked so all the dishes turned out rubbery.

We ordered live small abalones, live pacific surf clams, live hamaguri clams. They were all overcooked and rubbery.

We ordered a lightly blanched squid. It was super rubbery. Our jaws were so tired eating it, we just gave up.

Even the live prawns were slightly over-steamed and was a little too chewy, especially considering they were live ones.

We ordered a fish which was so overcooked it was hard like chicken! Even though the fish was not a live one, I think it can’t be this bad. Even frozen fish would taste better. We took a video of us using a big spoon and hitting the fish meat with it. The fish was even break! It was rock hard.

They also add heavy, funky sauces to some dishes which do nothing but conver the freshness of the seafood, which defeats the purpose of ordering live seafood.

I suspect perhaps the cooking style suits the local tastebuds but I won’t suggest this place for people who are more used to the refined...

A seafood restaurant is the best place where I’ve ever been to in this tourist area every time when I want to welcome friends and to offer business treat for VIPs. It’s easy to make reservations for 3-5 people up to big group. At this restaurant, you will find the decent cuisine and traditional local menu for your guests. All the ingredients and materials are fresh and well prepared. The presentation is nice as well. If you want to find fresh-picked seafood, this is the place where you should have never missed in this Raohe attraction. All those servers are experienced and sophisticated. If you have difficulty to select from the menu, those server could help you to make better choices for your needs. The restaurant’s specialties are fly-stirred cuisine and traditional soups. Also you will have good quality of seafood including fish, wide range of crabs, lobster and shrimps. at the good price. A new location of the same exact store that is always pack and popular in zhongzheng district. Went here for my girlfriends birthday celebration with her family. Arrived at 7:25pm with reservation booked for 7:30pm. The place was packed and upon arrival and we started to order the dishes at the side counter where customers can view what they are ordering through clear visible tanks. A complementary cold onion dish was served first and quickly followed by others. Food was extremely well prepared and the taste was flavourful. One particular dish was a bit off, upon informing the store manager she immediately tried it herself and found was true.
