I recently had the opportunity to visit Smith and Wollensky Taipei, and I must say that the food was excellent, and the view was absolutely breathtaking, making it a perfect spot for a special occasion. However, our experience was slightly dampened by the presence of kids with us, which made it challenging to have a truly enjoyable evening.
Moreover, I must share my initial impression of their service. Despite our scheduled reservation time of 19:15, we were asked to wait outside. In other locations, such as New York City, reception would usually invite guests to wait at the bar and offer them drinks or water. However, at Smith and Wollensky Taipei, my family was left standing outside without any chairs, and it felt a bit uncomfortable, as if we were being ignored or overlooked. I expected a higher level of service from a renowned establishment like Smith and Wollensky.
Furthermore, during our communication via email, I noticed a certain level of arrogance in their responses, which left me feeling unappreciated as a customer. It seemed as if they were not interested in providing a warm and welcoming experience, which was disappointing.
Despite these shortcomings, I must acknowledge the exceptional service provided by the person serving the wine. Their professionalism and respect were truly appreciated.
Lastly, I must mention that the music band at the venue added a touch of elegance and was perfectly suited to the overall ambiance of the place.
In conclusion, while the food, view, and some aspects of the service were remarkable, there were some areas where improvement is needed to ensure a truly outstanding...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for our anniversary. ⢠The dishes were elegantly designed and deliciously flavorful. ⢠The view was spectacular. ⢠The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. ⢠The atmosphere was magnificent with live Jazz performance. ⢠The spacing was fair but a little too tight. ⢠You can choose your own tipping percentage depending on how well you feel service was. ⢠The value was fine combing the above this restaurant provides.
Reservation is a must to be able to find a seat even on weekend here. It is a must experience restaurant for you and your special ones. You can definitely find lower price steakhouse similar to this one somewhere else around the area, but this is definitely the one and only spot to experience a front seat Taipei 101 view with excellent served meals.
My only âregretâ was not ordering enough food during the visit, we ordered 2 main courses at first but was advised by the staff that it may be a little much for the two of us, and suggested we can order later if we arenât full. Obviously we made our own decision to decided just to order one 21oz steak instead, which for a bigger American grown man for me wasnât enough. In the end we decided not to order another course because it would take too long for it to be served and weâd be staying for longer than we expected. Personally I felt a minor disappointment because it is indeed a special once in a blue moon occasion for us, and I didnât have the pleasure to feel full when walking out the restaurant. Other than that, we would like to come back again and give it another try, this this ordering enough for a hungry customer...
Read moreI had a disappointing dining experience at this restaurant. Their reservation system opens up the next month's dates on the first day of the current month. I planned to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my wife in Taipei, and I wanted to book a table with a view of the Taipei 101 landmark. I made a reservation for an earlier time at 5:30 PM on the very first day reservations opened. I also noted in my reservation that we needed a seat with a view of 101, and I had pre-ordered flowers to be delivered to the restaurant, which the florist had already coordinated with them. I believed that our expectations would be met when we arrived.
However, despite knowing that requests may not always be fulfilled, we arrived at the restaurant before 5:30 PM only to find that the table arranged for us had no view of Taipei 101 at all. The seating was very poor. While the staff mentioned they could help us queue for a better table, by the time we were halfway through dessert and considering leaving, it was disappointing to realize that our request had not been accommodated.
Overall, the service was satisfactory, and the food was decent for a high-end steak restaurant. However, the initial disappointment affected our overall impression. If we couldnât have a view of 101, it would have been better to inform us in advance or offer a special reservation fee, but that didnât happen.
I wouldnât recommend this restaurant to others who wish to see the 101 view. If it werenât for the understanding of the staff, I would have preferred to leave no tip at all. It was a thoroughly...
