HaiDiLao Taipei Breeze NanShan Branch — Restaurant in Xinyi District

People say haidilao is expensive and it is compared to other hot pot restaurants but I think it’s justified based on what they offer - excellent service and “free stuff”. This is the worst haidilao chain I have been to. I’ve been to ones in the US and the one in Taichung. I expected this location to offer the same level or better service compared to other branches but sadly it did not. Our server, 田真, made no conversation and paid us almost no attention. The only thing she did was scoop the soup oil for us twice and changed our dishes for us once. I wanted to ask her about my manicure wait time and possibly a memento from haidilao to remember my Taiwan trip by but all she cared about was that I paid. After I paid, she handed me my receipt and left me there. Did she even say bye or thank me? I don’t know - she was possibly rushing off to ignore other people too. My husband ended up asking the worker in the front giving people waiting numbers for a memento. I definitely felt like the amount of money I paid for a terrible experience here wasn’t worth it. I deeply regret that I chose haidilao as my last dinner in Taiwan - it ruined my last full day impression of Taipei. It was my fault in assuming all haidilao experiences are great. The one good experience here was the man after 10pm who was checking the numbers of the people still waiting today. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (12/10 if I could!) Absolutely phenomenal solo hotpot experience! I went to the Breeze Nan Shan branch and was immediately welcomed with the warmest service. A friendly English-speaking staff member walked me through everything — from how to order to explaining the broths, sauces, and sides. As a solo diner, they even brought me a cute stuffed panda plushie to accompany me — such a sweet touch! I chose Classic beef Mala and Collagen Broth with pork intestine and both were rich, flavorful, and comforting. The ingredients were impressively fresh — the meats were super tender and flavorful, and the vegetables were incredibly crisp. 12/10 for quality and freshness! For just NT$50, you get unlimited side dishes, fruits, and Häagen-Dazs ice cream — yes, you read that right. The entire meal, including premium meat cuts and all sides, came to NT$1590, and I felt it was worth every cent. This is more than just dinner — it’s an experience. Understanding what we were here for, she knew that we were bringing my partner’s (who’s an international student here) parents to Taiwan for vacation. She wanted to commemorate our moment as she took a photo for us. However, we were surprised when she shared, not only one printed picture frame, but she two for us to take home — one for the parents and the other for us to keep.

Additionally, she also gifted us a charm trinket knowing that we were unable to stay for the performance that was happening in the night.

This attentiveness and dedication as a waitress deserves the biggest recognition.
