Xiao Chu is flying! – where the postcards are cute, but the service is anything but.

Xiao Chu is flying is the postcard café where you don't just order a coffee, you order an experience. But not just any experience—one that involves picking a postcard with an illustration of what you want, handing it in, and then waiting for your magical order to be prepared. And guess what? You get to keep the postcard and send it off. How utterly delightful, right? So innovative! So quirky! So Instagrammable!

Now, let’s talk about the actual experience, which was, to put it politely, not as delightful as their concept. First off, the rules. Oh, the rules. You’re not allowed to simply enjoy a drink or snack in peace—you must, as the sign says, order something per person. So, I’m there with a friend who, for reasons beyond their control (food poisoning from a different restaurant, not here), was physically incapable of eating or drinking. But apparently, "rules are rules," and the staff insisted my sick friend wait outside while I had my drink inside. Seriously? It’s 2025, not some medieval torture chamber.

I tried reasoning with them, but the girls behind the counter were unmoved. Perhaps if we’d mentioned we were from my popular travel blog, they’d have treated us differently—after all, every tourist trap knows how to cater to influencers. As it was, I ended up taking my drink to-go, which was honestly probably the best decision I made all day, because this café is the perfect place to waste your money while feeling like a prop in a poorly-scripted B-movie.

But let’s talk about the prices, shall we? I thought I was ordering at a café, not bidding on vintage Louis Vuitton bags. I paid a small fortune for overpriced coffee and cake that, frankly, I could've gotten for half the price anywhere else. But hey, at least the postcard was cute. I’ll probably frame it just to remember that I was royally fleeced in the name of "quaint café charm."

So, in conclusion, if you want to live out your Pinterest fantasy, get treated like a walking wallet, and post a picture with a postcard, then by all means, swing by. 🤡 But if you're looking for a place with decent service, reasonable prices, and a bit of compassion,...

We had a wonderful time at Xiao Chu is Flying! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. One unique touch was the ordering system—you choose your meal from postcards displayed outside the store, which made the experience feel even more charming.

We went with the French toast with chicken, and it was an excellent choice. The toast was crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside, while the chicken was perfectly seasoned, creating a great balance of sweet and savory. The small side salad with sesame dressing added just the right touch of freshness to the dish.

For drinks, we tried the Matcha Cotta Latte and the Lemon Honey Soda. The matcha latte was rich and smooth, with just the right amount of sweetness. At first, I was surprised by the firm jelly at the bottom, but then I realized it was the promised panna cotta—an unexpected but delightful twist. The lemon honey soda was refreshing, though a bit too sweet for our taste. A little extra tartness would have made it perfect.

Beyond the food, the café itself was a lovely space. The first floor had a small stand featuring handmade items from local artists—definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something unique and made with love.

And for all the cat lovers out there, the café is home to three adorable fluffy residents! Unfortunately, we only got to see two of them, but they were a sweet addition to the cozy vibe.

Overall, everything was well-prepared and flavorful, and we’d definitely come back...
