We have just completed a 7 night stay at the InHouse Hotel Heritage in Taipei. We wanted to share our review.
The property is located right in the heart of Ximen, a short 3min walk to the Ximen MTR Station. As with our last stay in Taipei, the location was our key reason for booking this property, The location makes it ideal as a base to get around town and for enjoying everything Ximen has to offer.
The property itself is very well maintained and managed. Our welcome was very professional yet friendly. We arrived an hour prior to the official checkin, so the desk staff advised us that we could just go to the 2nd floor restaurant and have a coffee, on the house, while we awaited our room.
The room we booked was tidy, spacious and had a comfortable bed and pillows. The internet connection within the property was easy to join onto and each room has its own wifi access. There are also plenty of channels to pick from with the TV.
We had included the daily breakfast in our reservation and we are glad we did. Though the restaurant is small, the staff manage it very well and we had no issues with getting a seat to enjoy a pleasant meal. The restaurant is well staffed and are very proactive in keeping the place clean and tables ready for the next guests. Breakfast itself was buffet style but was one of the best buffets in quality of the selections that we’ve had during our stay in Taiwan.
Though the hotel does not have a fitness facility, there are a few affordable gyms within easy walking distance from the property should you wish to maintain your fitness routine.
Overall, we loved our stay here and we will be back again in the future. We will also be sure to recommend InHouse Hotel Heritage to our...
Read moreI am a returning guest of this hotel for 2 reason . Fundamentally, the practical side of a hotel with ground level access lobby is quite hard to come by in Ximen area. Especially one that directly faces the main street. You could simply drive up , pick up or drop off your luggage at it's door step. Most hotel in Ximen area have their lobby on the second floor and up. Usually resides on top of other establishment. Others, even with ground floor access was not located near a vehicular road . Most of Ximen alley are restricted for car access. The second reason is the hotel decor styles and taste. Although it's starting to lost it charm as many competitor are getting into the market. I loves the amenities and breakfast the hotel provide. However they should really extend their lounge timing at level 2 till midnight. If I'm not wrong they offer you free drinks and snacks at the breakfast area from 1300 till 2100. Most of the travellers are out these timing, it render this initiative a redundant waste of resources. On average I return back to the hotel beyond the 2100 mark. Rooms can be a little cramp depending on your room choices. The last complaint is the long waiting time for the limited elevator at peak hour. Other than that, all is fine. Overall a very strategically located property. Food, drinks and shops are readily located around the corner. Subway is also a few...
Read moreA cozy yet comfortable room in a super-convenient location made for a good stay.
PRO:
I really liked the design of my room. I felt very much at home. And despite being in one of the noisiest neighborhoods in the city, the room was absolutely calm and peaceful.
The hotel rates are reasonable by the standards of Taipei. IMO, it’s well worth what you pay here.
Staff at reception are generally friendly and helpful.
Breakfast buffet, included in my room rate, offered a good variety. Egg dishes were tasty.
Very fair late checkout fees. NT$300/hour.
CON:
Coffee at breakfast was often cold. Espresso machine out of order every morning.
Lots of unlabeled light switches in bedroom. Not always near the lights they control. Confusing.
Very rigid about check-in time. If rooms are not ready, OK. But even if room is ready, don’t expect to be able to get into your room. Frustrating when you’re tired and dirty from traveling.
Elevator out of service when I finally got my room key. Had to climb the stairs to my eighth-floor (!) room. Plenty of apologies but no offer of anything tangible to mitigate this. 🙁
Plus, landings in stairwells are blocked by housekeeping supply carts. Pretty sure that’s a fire escape hazard and...
