The service I received in this hotel was perhaps one of the best I'd ever had from a hotel. It felt like returning home after a long day of travelling!
Rooms were clean and every morning, when we were about to exit the hotel, the receptionist would personally ask us if we'd like our room to be cleaned. Also, the receptionist would greet us whenever we entered/left the hotel. That would be service with a personal touch and is always appreciated.
While there aren't facilities like spas and gyms(it is a small hotel after all), the amenities in the room more than made up for it. Our room came with a bathtub and the TV had a great selection of channels(almost 100 channels) but do be careful though, because there are certain R-21/pornographic channels.
One thing to gripe about would be the location. The hotel is located quite far from Ximending station(almost a 10-minute walk) and it can get quite confusing to find the hotel because Ximending in itself is like a maze. Use the GPS on your phone and you'll be fine. Also, it might be quite hard to find because it's tucked away in an alley at the corner of the busy...

Obviously if you’re reading this review, you’re either a budget traveler or you have no other choice. I was desperately looking to book a quarantine hotel room three months prior to the Chinese New Year. Everywhere I looked was booked. Except this hotel - it still had one tiny room available on one of the most desirable dates before the new year. BTW - the only sure way to book a hotel room during this crazy time was to LINE each establishment. The online booking portal did not have real time reservation information. This hotel did not jack up the price like most others did. But I had still lots of doubts about its cleanliness. I even LINED the manager and asked him about how strictly they enforced the no smoking policy (absolutely can’t stand the smell of smoke!). I was given the room with a round bed. When ever I showed my friends the picture of the bed, it never failed to elicit giggles. Fast forward to my stay - it’s OK. The furniture is pretty old but functional. The bed is surprisingly firm and comfortable. However the bed sheet is pretty worn out. Luckily I brought my own sleeping bag so I did not touch their sheet. The three daily meals included in the price are fine (I could only finish half of it). I love the streetscape looked out from the large windows in both bed room and bath room. I saw the comings and goings at the elementary school across the street. I was annoyed by a different kind of smell - leftover foods. Because I’m really sensitive to smell, I made sure that I took out garbage as soon as I was done. I have to give a shout-out to the staff. The manager answered my questions regarding the room condition honestly. I did not smell smoke during my stay. But he was right - they could not completely prevent that. They provided a portable heater right away when I asked for one. They promptly delivered the stuff dropped off by m family. Overall, my 10-days quarantine was a tolerable stay. I know people who paid nearly double of what I paid with slightly better hotel rooms during the same period of...
Read moreFew steps distance from the XiMenTing area. Quite convenient. Early in the morning, all the nice breakfast smells will wake you up! But I love to have "Ah Zhong Mian Xian" (Inside XiMenTing) in the morning time, not that many people as in the night time.
You have to bypass the XiMenTing to...
