We stayed at the youth activity center for one night in October. The hotel is next to the cable car station but it's situated a little bit up the hill. So if you have luggages and take the around the lake bus to get here, you need to haul your luggages all the way up the hill. If you drive or take a taxi, that won't be a problem. The atmosphere surrounding the hotel is like a camp in the woods. So it's very quiet during both day and night. The rooms are OK and were probably converted from dormitories. We did find an ant on our bed other than that it's largely clean. The boat stop at Yi Da Shao is just 15 minute walk away on a nice trail. The staff is very friendly and helpful to tell you where to go around the lake. By the way, the lake is really beautiful and is the highlight of our Taiwan trip. There are plenty hotels at both Yi Da Shao and the travel center but this hotel is more budget minded if you have a group of 4 or more traveling together. We didn't have time for breakfast at the hotel as we had to catch the early bus to Alishan. Overall a nice stay,...
Read moreWell, location is not perfect but I didn’t want to stay in expensive (on Mid-Autumn festival and weekend) hotel on the other side of the Sun Mooon Lake. Getting across the lake is not difficult but I took one pay pass for 300TWD and used it only once as I realized the boats run only till 17:30… So I stuck on the side of Ita Tsao for the rest of the day. There was also shuttle bus around the lake (and I didn’t know it). Anyway, finding Youth Activity Center was a little bit of a challenge, but eventually I made it, and they charged me 950TWD for a bed in a dorm…and likely that day I was the only one in that room for 4 people! All to me)) Nice, clean, neat room with TV and no internet on the first floor in a satellite building (( but perfect for a healthy sleep in the mountains. Probably was the cheapest option to stay at SML, but the best for a...
Read moreStayed at the China Youth Corps Hotel with a group of friends. We had seven people and stayed in a Ren Ai apartment, which has three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room. The space was immaculately clean and each room had its own heat fan. The living room was big enough for us to play board games around the coffee table, and had a water boiler, a refrigerator, glasses and utensils. The bedrooms had gorgeous wood flooring and comfortable, soft beds with fluffy duvets. The service was great, booking over the phone was extremely smooth, and breakfast had toast, congee, and some buns. A little further away from it all, but a ten-minute walk around the lake to Itashao, which has enough restaurants, snacks, and a 7-11. Expansive grounds, convenient to the cable car. Overall, great bang...
