Mamdali Guest House — Hotel in Malindi

Only recommend this place if you are prepared to be overcharged!!! I booked online, but the amount I was asked to pay from the owner was higher than the confirmed booking price. When I explained the situation, the owner told me in an intimidating manner: “I am the owner here. If you don’t agree with the price I set, you cannot stay.”

Later, after I reported the issue to the booking site, the owner threatened me again, asking why I had shared this problem with the booking site. Eventually, he even said that he already had other reservations and refused to let me stay.

The booking site was of no help—the property simply ignored their messages. This means that anyone booking here may not be able to stay for the confirmed rate, and will instead be forced to pay whatever amount the owner demands.

The owner is consistently intimidating and far from hospitable. If you choose this place only for its location or quality, you are very likely...

Mamdali Hostel is the cheapest hostel place you may get in this area of port of Zanzibar. It contains of 2 floors and in each you have one separate room for 2 persons and one dormitory type room for sharing with 5 persons in total. There's balcony with beautiful view on the boats. The best about this accomodations is distance from the Stone Town, you may walk up to 6 minutes and you're there. So if you pay more for accomodation in core of Stone Town, again you will need to walk here to catch boats for excursions to the Islands which belongs to Zanzibar (Prison Island, Nakupenda, Mnemba and etc.). Disadvantage of this hostel is cleanliness, which may be improved a lot. But I'm sure the owners will work on it, they just started with the business. Stay way from this hostel is very dirty disgusting and the son of the owner is very stupid and he alsways crying about if you have aircondition open and he always coming with your bike and checking you he will destroy...
