I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Secret Garden in Stone Town, Zanzibar, and it was truly an enchanting experience. Nestled within the historic surroundings of Stone Town, this hidden gem transported me to a different era with its captivating old-world building adorned with exotic plants.

From the moment we stepped into the Secret Garden, we were captivated by the lush greenery and the serenity that surrounded me. The courtyard was a haven of tranquility, with vibrant tropical plants creating a stunning backdrop to the elegant, time-worn architecture. It felt like a secret oasis in the heart of the bustling Stone Town.

The dining experience was equally impressive. The menu boasted a delightful fusion of flavors, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Zanzibar. Each dish was a masterpiece, meticulously prepared and presented with a touch of artistry. The freshness of the ingredients was evident, and the flavors were a harmonious dance on the palate.

What truly sets the Secret Garden apart is its magical atmosphere. The combination of the historic setting, the lush garden, and the attentive staff created an ambiance that felt like a journey through time. It's not just a meal; it's a sensory experience that lingers in your memory.

The Secret Garden in Stone Town is a testament to the beauty of preserving historical charm while offering a modern and delightful culinary experience. Whether you're a traveler seeking a unique dining experience or a local wanting to escape the everyday, the Secret Garden is a wondrous place that will leave you with a sense of awe and appreciation for the hidden treasures...

We just left this place. There was a waitress she was trying to be nice. We settled down first as we were shopping and carrying heavy items with us. We were already full but just to experience this place we decided to try. I ordered 2 starters and a coctail as a starter and I asked them to keep the menu. Then the tall male waiter started to argue with us that we are keeping the menu?! I think he didnt like us as we didnt order any main course. But my intention was to have some starters first then I was willing to order something more and that was the reason I wanted to keep the menu. But short of the story these guys are working for one of the fancy restaurants around and does not know how to behave to a customer. I can say this because Im working in hospitality sector and will never have this attitude to any customer even they are not right, even they are rude or anything. So Im wishing the best for them and will never visit this place ever again. I asked them to cancel our order and we left. Because of his strange unacceptable attitude in the middle of the restaurant, other tables were watching us as well. :)) SO PLEASE IF YOU ARE NOT WILLINGLY TO ACCEPT CUSTOMERS WHO DOES NOT WANT TO ORDER MAIN COURSE PLEASE WRITE IT AT THE ENTRANCE. Then we will not waste our time to write here these stories :) As far as I checked there are many complaints about here like same stories or about the quality of food. So just waste of money. Thank you to that waiter I could not waste my money...

I was curious why any place had a 4.9 rating. Chose to give it a go. Arrived after 9pm, less than an hour before closing. There was a private event going on but the Manager was nice enough to let us in and sit us in an ante room with a view of the events. The ambience was warm and natural, with the extra foliage around the ruins of the old building. The decor was deliberate, old antiques which added to the overall effect. The staff was particularly attentive even on such a busy night, apologetic about everything. They were also helpful in packing what was left of the food to go and walking us through the complicated alleys to our hotel. We were informed this escort service is complimentary to customers and wer einvitrd back for sun downers at the roof top seafood restaurant attached to the Emerson Spice Hotel next door. The food portions were generous, hence the to go bag. It was expertly and artfully presented in Arabian style, with spices and sides to compliment the main dish. The bread cover for the goat biryani was innovative. The Secret Garden cocktail was soooo refreshing, and well timed. The coconut chicken curry was also a hit with my companion. The music from the stage, was very entertaining and this was a bonus to a Wednesday night out....

This is an overall cool place to visit. However, my personal experience is not the best. We came for dinner and drinks. We order a seafood platter and a chicken curry. The seafood platter is mostly good but the lobster is inedible. It’s extremely fishy and has a very powdery texture. It tasted like you would get food poisoning. We spitted it out and did not have the lobster at all. Gave this feedback to the service staff and they didn’t do anything about it. It was an overall less than satisfying experience despite the great atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommend food in this place. Eat somewhere else before you come to enjoy the great music and vibes.
