African Bungalows — Hotel in Unguja

I had the pleasure of staying at African Bungalows in Nungwi, Zanzibar, with my partner and her parents, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of the property.

The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully furnished, offering everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The decor perfectly combined traditional African elements with modern comforts, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the overall ambiance of the rooms made it easy to unwind after a day of exploring.

The garden area is absolutely magical—a true oasis. Surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers, it was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The pool was another highlight. It’s beautifully located within the garden, surrounded by palm trees and tropical vegetation, offering a refreshing and serene place to cool down.

The staff were incredibly kind, caring, and attentive. We had several wonderful conversations with the owners, who are truly amazing people, and it was clear that they take great pride in ensuring their guests have an exceptional experience. The manager, a lovely lady, was particularly helpful. She gave us fantastic tips on local attractions, best places to visit, and how to make the most of our stay, which really enhanced our experience.

Security was top-notch, providing us with peace of mind throughout our stay.

The beach is only a short 4-5 minute walk away, which was very convenient. The location is perfect—quiet and private, yet close enough to the beach and local attractions for easy access.

Overall, our stay at African Bungalows was exceptional. The combination of stunning surroundings, comfortable rooms, and outstanding hospitality made it a perfect getaway. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay...

We had an amazing stay at African Bungalows. Eva, the manager, was fantastic - friendly, professional and always on hand to help with anything we needed. The whole team were just as impressive: attentive, kind and genuinely chatty, creating such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere from the moment we arrived.||The setting is beautiful and tranquil, surrounded by lush gardens and just a short walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet, while still being close to everything. The rooms themselves were spotless - the cleaning staff clearly take huge pride in keeping everything immaculate, and it really shows. Comfortable beds, lovely shower and everything you need. ||We loved the breakfast, gorgeous fresh fruit and generous portions which set you up for the day. The food overall was consistently great throughout our stay, fresh and full of flavour.||African Bungalows is a gem in Nungwi - calm, comfortable and run by people who clearly care about making every guest’s experience special.
