Stop scrolling — this is the dive shop you’re looking for! We did our PADI Advanced Open Water with Fun Divers Zanzibar — 5 days, 11 dives, insane reefs, and the best instructor ever (spoiler: he’s also the owner!). Professional, fun, and unforgettable! My wife Ninada and I just wrapped up our PADI Advanced Open Water course here, which turned into 5 unforgettable days and 11 magical dives around Shane’s Reef, Mnemba’s Small Wall, and the Big Wall (and oh boy, what walls they were) Now, let’s talk about the man, the myth, the legend: Choolo. We thought we just had an instructor. Turns out, we had a diving Jedi Master who’s been at this for almost 20 years — and, surprise surprise, he’s also the owner! What blew us away was how disciplined yet chill, professional yet super approachable he was. Every detail mattered to him, from safety to the tiniest mask adjustment. You don’t often meet people who are this passionate and this perfect at what they do. And then there’s Captain Ali — the guy who somehow managed to keep us (and our endless whims) happy on every trip. Need water? Done. Extra snacks? Already there. Want to chase dolphins? Say no more. Honestly, diving is one thing — but diving with people who make you laugh, learn, and feel totally at home? That’s priceless. So here’s the deal: • Come for the reefs. • Stay for the experience. • Leave with a certification and the urge to book your next trip back. Fun Divers Zanzibar is an experience. And if you’re lucky enough to have Choolo guide you, trust me — your underwater stories will sound way cooler than everyone else’s at the dinner table. Highly, highly recommend. Warning: diving with Fun Divers may cause chronic happiness, sudden urges to book return tickets, and the inability to shut up about how amazing your instructor was. — Sagar & Ninada

Went snorkelling with Fun Divers this past July. It was myself and two friends snorkelling, plus another random person who was diving on our boat. We went to spots around Mnemba island. Amiko was out snorkel guide and he was great. He was good at pointing out fish we may not have spotted ourselves (he pointed out a lionfish I doubt we would have seen without him). He was also very good about checking in on us which was great considering there were significant waves the day we went out. The three of us were competent swimmers and never needed assistance, but knowing he was keeping a close eye was reassuring. We did a total of two snorkelling sessions, probably around 45 min. each, and saw fantastic fish. We had done a snorkel trip a few days earlier at the south end of the island, and the Mnemba spots were so much better. Better water clarity, and shallower water so the fish were so much closer and brighter looking. Between our snorkel/dive sessions, we were provided with bottled water an fresh cut fruit, which was perfect. It replenished our energy without making us feel too heavy. Overall, I definitely recommend Find Divers. Just don't bring too much with you on the boat. When we were heading to Mnemba, a combination of the tide and the waves meant we pretty much got waterboarded for most of the boat ride. It was fun, but we definitely got wet. The ride back to the dive shop was much better.

I dove with Fun Divers Zanzibar for almost a week and spent plenty of time with this amazing crew. All of them are funny, friendly and easygoing. Cholo is very professional and always made sure to do the best for any customer. He even went to the length of finding sharks in Mnemba because he knew that i love them. Ussi, Ali and Issak are such funny, kind and welcoming people. We joked around a lot and had so many laughs while diving together. All of them had very keen eyes and showed us an abundant of marine animals underwater, e.g. green sea turtles, big groupers, different kinds of morays, octopuses and leaf scorpionfishes. But the staff also knew how to handle difficult situations very professionally. On several occasions we dove with beginners and one of them was very afraid of her first dive. Ussi was very patient and never left her side so that she would feel safe underwater. I had a leaking mask once (as i took one too big), but Issak helped me to take care of it underwater and never left sight in case the problem would last. They also had spare equipment on board and were always prepared for adjustments (weights, masks, fins etc.). Ali was always the first one to help to get into your dive gear on board. The dive gear was well maintained, i even got a brand new wetsuit. Dive groups were small and comfortable (usually 3 people, never exceeding 5 while i was diving with them), which was one of the main reasons i dove with Fun Divers. They also have two boats, so that they were able to divide the group in smaller ones and visiting different dive sites. The staff was very relaxing and let you do your own thing if you were an experienced diver, only calling you back if they saw an interesting animal, but took even greater care with people who were beginners. They did a good briefing on board before entering the dive site. Apart from the very delicious Samosas and fruits we’d enjoy on board during our breaks, the crew is made up of local people, who are treated and paid fairly. If you want to support a professional and amazing local dive crew i would strongly recommend Fun Divers! All in all we made very good friends and i am definitely looking forward to dive them again...

Fun Divers Zanzibar is a great dive shop on the north tip of Nungwi, completely run by locals.

They know the reefs like the back of their hands and have very good equipment and professional divemasters. We did a total of 11 dives with them and never felt unsave or ill-prepared.

Cholo, the owner, was responding fast pre-booking and very kind with great hospitality when on site. Ussi, our main divemaster, showed great experience and was able to lead us to see turtles, octopus, lionfish, stingrays, groupers, trumpet fish, clown fish and many more!

The reefs itself were healthy (no coral bleaching) and filled with marine life. Mnemba was amazing, but Tumbatu was even better because of the healthy, huge reefs and perfect, 30m vision! (And it was less crowded that Mnemba). But the local dive sites were able to impress as well, with decent vision and great amounts of fish.

The dive groups were small (max 5 people/ divemaster), and in the one case where we exceeded five people on the boat, another divemaster was send on the trip to ensure the group's stay small and manageable. This was especially relevant as we saw other dive shops diving out with 10-15 people on a large boat, which almost certainly results in a worse experience for everyone. At FunDivers however, the Groups were divided by knowledge and air consumption, so we never had to ascend too early because one member of the group was out of air faster than anyone else.

Pricing was also fair, especially considering the offered pre-booking discount! Other dive shops did not offer a comparable package at this price level, and also short term changes/additions to our initially booked package were made possible by Cholo and his crew.

Overall, we were extraordinary happy with our choice of Fun Divers, as it resulted in supporting a locally run business, with excellent equipment and service, a great, loveable crew and awesome dive sites! I'd give two 5 Star reviews if I could and will tell anyone of my friends who come to Nungwi to book with this dive amazing dive shop! Thank you very much at Cholo and the whole Crew (Isaak, Ali, Ussi and everyone else) - we hope we are able to come...
