Ebb & Flow Apartments — Hotel in Unguja

The 'Ebb and Flow' is a beautiful small hotel in Paje close to the beach. It offers beautiful rooms with air conditioning and spacious modern bathrooms. Everything is very clean, well maintained and you feel very safe. The team on site is simply wonderful, everyone is very friendly, polite and helpful. What I found really nice was having breakfast together in the morning with the other guests at the pool. I met so many nice people here and I was really looking forward to the next morning. The little monkeys that showed up every now and then were also very nice and were a lot of fun. In the immediate vicinity there are many small 'shops' and very nice restaurants that offer the most delicious seafood at the lowest prices. The absolute highlight is of course the endless, beautiful beach. I was there to kitesurf, but because there was no wind in the first few days, I booked a surfing course at the Aquaholics kite and surf school (great!), which was super entertaining. I also stored my material there in the second windy week. 'Wadden walks' were also a nice alternative when the wind was weak, because at low tide the lagoon can be very deep up to the reef. 💙 From almost leaving Zanzibar… to extending my flight — Ebb & Flow completely turned my trip around ✨

I had a rough start to my time in Zanzibar and was ready to call it quits, but a friend recommended I check out Ebb & Flow… and wow, I’m SO glad I did.

From the moment I arrived, I felt safe, welcomed, and genuinely cared for. The first person I met was Shania at reception — such a warm, kind soul 🤗 The breakfast every morning was chef’s kiss 👌 and Dustan always made sure we were taken care of with a big smile.

Through Ebb & Flow I met Kiara, who was such a gem. She went out of her way to get me into last-minute surf lessons with Aquaholics and gave me amazing local tips that made my trip authentic, budget-friendly, and unforgettable 🌍💫

I spent 5 nights at ebb&flow and felt very well looked after during that time. The accommodation and my room (mixed room/doom) was very clean and had a well-maintained pool and cosy lounge/chill areas. I found the breakfast very tasty, there was a buffet (bread, butter, peanut butter, fresh fruit, tea/coffee) which was available to all plus an extra dish from the menu. There is also a drinking water dispenser where you can refill your bottle around the clock. I liked that all the guests sat together at the table and got to know each other. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful and friendly. I also felt safe as there was a staff member to talk to and watch over the property at night. I found paje to be safe in general. The beach is only 3 minutes away and the accommodation is also a good starting point to the village. All in all, I am very satisfied! I can only recommend it and would definitely come again.
