ZanziBarista — Restaurant in Unguja

Came on Google Score and recent reviews however probably one of the worst evenings I’ve ever experienced.

Menu was limited with lots of meals not available. Server seemed passive aggressive until the end of the meal where she was just argumentative. More on that’s shortly.

Kids food came which was edible and they enjoyed most of it.

Onion rings were fresh and nice. One onions rings came late as the sever told us we never ordered it. She was adamant that it wasn’t her fault. When I say adamant, I mean she argued with us.

3 orders of crispy chicken salads, 1 spicy mango salad, and 1 kofta. (no steak, or additional kofta, fish or many other orders.

Salads were bland and did not really have any flavour which was disappointing.

Then comes the kofta - inside was red and undercooked. We asked for it to be cooked a little more. Server was very unfriendly. We did not ask for another portion (as they had already told us that they didn’t have any) just to be cooked a little more. 10mins later a fresh portion came out and again it was red and cold inside. This time the manager came other and again was unfriendly and argumentative. She was trying to make us eat it as they said that’s how they serve it. We asked for it to be cancelled and taken off the bill.

As the evening had been spoiled by the service and quality of food we decided to pay the bill and go to another restaurant - )Mahali which is next door but 1. We have no affiliation to this place or hotel. Check the review out there). Paying the bill…This is where the evening really changed.

They asked why were we’re leaving as they were preparing another kofta (which we had earlier cancelled). They refused to take the meal off the bill which they then served to an empty table). The server then became confrontational by literally squaring up to me. I was forced to then pay 1/2 for a meal which we did not receive.

Great setting…but will not return!
