Ndiro Beach House — Hotel in Unguja

The accommodation at number 5 doesn't really offer an ocean view since it's located on the side of the building. While you can see the water from the terrace, the window overlooks the street next to the building. There's a shop right next to the room. The bathroom window opens onto the terrace of the shop, and from morning till night, you can hear a lot of people shouting and making loud noises. There's about a finger-width gap next to the entrance door, allowing every sound to come through. The street is approximately 1-1.5 meters away from both the window and the door. The WC door cannot be closed; it always swings open. We have to prop it with a wet bottle from the inside. The fridge doesn't work, and the breakfast is minimal. Usually, there are only 3-4 pieces of pineapple, watermelon, and a small banana. Then they bring a small amount of eggs and one pancake, but these portions are very small. The fruits are mostly tasteless. However, the accommodation is in a very good location. There's a restaurant right next door. The beach suitable for swimming is very close by, and the outdoor shop isn't far either. However, you can only buy beer in one shop, where cigarettes are also sold. We couldn't find alcohol in other shops.. The last evening, the air conditioning and the fan both stopped working simultaneously. Despite trying to reach someone at 11 PM, I couldn't get through, and they only responded to messages at half past seven in the morning. so the last night was really hot.. I forgot to take pictures of the room but it’s 10/10 , very clean, staff are so nice. Breakfast is consistent and will leave you FULL. You can request anything to the chef either the day before or the day of. Bilal is very very nice ! Ndiro and his sisters as well. I went solo for this trip and feared for my safety but Ndiro’s house is literally the safest place to be at’! I’d leave my stuff scattered days on end and would come back to find them exactly the same.

Room number 7 is a few steps away from the main house, without a terrace, it is very quiet and at the same time everything is within reach. The room is spacious and nicely decorated.
