Ratana Platinum Resort — Hotel in Kamala

Cons: The room could have used a bit of an update with a few repairs (chipped floor tiles, damage to the bathroom mirror.). We were surprised when we first entered, because it didn't look as nice as the photos on booking.com. The room had very little natural light - there was an exterior/patio door that lead to a 2 foot by 2 foot space that wasn't inviting at all (small and dark), so we never went out there. There were 2 safes in the room - a large one and a small one. Even after inquiring with the staff, the large didn't work, so we couldn't store our laptop in there. But the small safe worked, which was good for cell phone, passport, wallet, etc. While you couldn't hear noise from the street, you could often hear doors of other rooms closing - and what I think was someone mopping the floor early one morning. All in all it was a fine hotel, but I was a little surprised at the price ($103 US / night) for the value. If the room was touched up, maybe worth it. Still, we had a very nice time here.

Pros: The beds were comfortable. The room and common areas were clean. The roof top space was the hotel's best feature - by far, with a decent sized pool, comfortable seating, great 360 views, and the makings of a bar with stereo speakers - but the bar was not stocked, manned and there was never music playing. Honestly, the pool/roof top space saved the stay for us. The staff was also fantastic and very helpful. The hotel was conveniently located on the main road, but we never heard any noise from the street. There are plenty of convenience stores and 2 grocery stores within 5 minutes walk. There was a restaurant in the lobby, but we didn't eat there. The room provided bottled water and the staff who tidied the rooms did a great job. Recommendations: excellent dinner option: Tiwa Bar. This is the perfect spot if you want to stay in Kamala beach Room was amazing and the staff so helpful. We also used the kiosk in the hotel to book trips ion the island of Phuket which we all really enjoyed. Roof top pool bar ,bar, restaurant and maid cleaned our room everyday the service was exceptional at the Ratana . So many bars and restaurants in the area and only a short walk to the beach. Supermarkets on your doorsteps . Big boys burgers restaurant only a 7 minute walk from the hotel was our favourite. Aussie pub for all the sports and they were more than happy to allow multiple sports on various screens. ||We went to Kabanis restaurant in Patong well worth a visit . I highly recommend this hotel in Phuket which offers excellent service and value for money. The manager and the staff are extremely professional and met all our expectations (we were a large group and the staff were very flexible and helpful with all our requests). The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. You have everything nearby: a 7/11 grocery store, a massage salon, a hair salon, small fruit and vegetable stalls and markets. The beach is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, with restaurants and bars all along the way. The hotel is also well located, being just a few minutes from Surin Beach (a beautiful beach) and about 20 minutes from Patong (by cab / Bolt).
