Service is paramount, and my experience upon arrival was less than satisfactory. The staff didn't extend the basic courtesies of a greeting or a smile; instead, they stared at me blankly. As a receptionist, one would expect a more hospitable approach. This initial encounter left me with an unwelcoming and somewhat cold impression.
When I submitted my passport, the staff continued to maintain a blank expression and made me feel like an outsider. Moreover, I was informed that I needed to pay a 1000 baht deposit in cash, which would be refunded upon check-out. This amount, over 20 USD, came as a surprise. It would have been greatly appreciated if such a requirement had been communicated before booking, perhaps in the tax section or via email in advance. This lack of transparency was quite frustrating.
Despite the presence of available staff and bellboys, as well as luggage trolleys, no one offered assistance with my numerous bags. Consequently, I had to transport all my luggage to the 8th floor unaided, which further highlighted the poor service.
I had booked an executive room, and while most aspects of the room met my expectations, there was a significant disappointment. The balcony was locked, denying me access. Additionally, the hotel's attention to detail and hygiene left much to be desired. The shower gel and shampoo provided were of subpar quality, and I've stayed in more budget-friendly accommodations that offered better-quality, disposable alternatives. For a hotel that claims to be highly rated, this was exceptionally frustrating. Furthermore, there was no hand wash or soap available, which was rather unpleasant. I resorted to using my facial cleanser to wash my hands throughout my stay.
Despite the premium price of 60 USD per night, which is considered expensive in the Thai context, the sound insulation of the rooms was inadequate. I could hear disturbances from various parts of the building, including alarm clocks, conversations among the cleaning staff, and people outside the corridor laughing and screaming. Given the amount I paid, I did not anticipate such disruptions. During my week-long stay, it became evident that the majority of the guests were young Thai partygoers. If that isn't your preference, I would strongly advise against choosing this hotel.
Location was not close to main points of attraction and shopping malls, you will have to take a bike or taxi to commute to these places.
On a more positive note, the swimming pool, although small, was well-maintained. The air conditioning in the room functioned effectively, with only one minor issue that was promptly resolved by the cleaning staff, who were courteous and unintrusive in their duties.
In summary, I cannot recommend this hotel due to the overwhelming negatives that overshadow the few positives. There are more affordable options available that offer superior service...
Read moreThe deluxe suite room has a very cold interior, different from the photos posted on booking. The beds and pillows are comfortable but there are no sockets near the beds if you want to recharge and use your laptop, Ipad or phone. The TV hangs on the wall but not in front of the bed, so if you want to watch it you have to sit on a very stiff sofa and not suitable for two people.
The bathroom: most of the time it smell bad because there are no windows to ventilate. The shower has good pressure but the water goes everywhere.
Soundproofing: after 9 am you can hear people talking, walking through the corridors and slamming the doors.
Wi-fi another sore point: we had to call the receptionist a couple of times to restart our router because I couldn't even use WhatsApp because the speed and reception were weak.
The location of the hotel in Sukhumvit 71: The closest BTS (subway) is Phra Khanong, a 40 minute walk! We ended up using the taxi every day as it is very far. I also noticed that around the hotel there is nothing very interesting to see, it is not a good location if you want to explore BKK.
Glow 71 to Wat Phoo: 1h 7min Glow 71 to Siam Center: 52 minutes Glow 71 to Chinatown: 1h 22 minutes etc ...
There is a swimming pool and a beautiful restaurant called Sol & Luna on the roof of the hotel but only open late afternoon/evening.
No breakfast in the hotel and I don't understand why as they can use or partner with the restaurant upstairs and offer a delicious room + breakfast included packages. No coffee machine or tea bags are provided in the room and no minibar refill, just 2 bottles of water at room temperature. If you wake up in the morning and you’re starving, the first Starbucks is 39 minutes by public transit.
The cleaning of the rooms is good as they change the towels every day. The hotel is clean and very well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Overall, we don't recommend staying here if you don't have your own private vehicle to...
Read moreThey charge deposit in cash which is weird when they have a big sign claiming to be cashless. Front office got no common courtesies! When we checked-in our room had a drinking glass with a crack line, broken hand shower and a faulty dinning light ( took them two days to replace). On the first day, the bathroom floor mat was not replaced and left wet. We dinned at the restaurant but could not charge to the rooms!!! So this is not a proper hotel with 4 star hotel charges. When we checked out, (two rooms) they claimed that 3 hand towels were missing and they are charging us for the towels and glass that had a crack line.
We disagreed and went back to the rooms to inspect ourselves. The towels were found in the room hidden behind pillow and kitchen cabinets. 1 towel could not be located.
We took photos of the hidden towel, and spoke to the receptionist who was suddenly rude. She was arguing with us when, in the first place, the hotel staff were trying to cheat us or did check properly with housekeeping. Why were only hand towels missing ( because it easily chargeable and most tourist would not mind paying). Therefore the cash deposit of €2000baht each room. I think with a lack of supervision, the hotel staff were trying to make extra money for themselves or for the hotel itself!
Caution to all tourist and travellers, by all cost avoid this hotel which otherwise has ok room but very far away from any proper food outlets or attractions!!! With Bangkok’s notorious traffic jams, it takes about 2hours to travel to fro the hotel to nearest malls. is a very humiliating when the hotel receptionist shouts at the guest at the main lobby and treats us like someone who had stolen...
