We had a booking for Cha-ba Lanta for 8 days, but stayed 3 days and moved to another place. This place is disaster. Pictures in Google Maps are taken 6-7 years ago, when the place was looking ok.
Here is our honest review for the hotel:
room C4 - awful, very dirty and smell like canal every day, even after “cleaning”. The room was not cleaned for 3 days and was “cleaned” after we complained. The pictures are taken after the cleaning took place. As you can see, the bathroom is mouldy, roof is not finished, shower is rusty. The toilet is the same. We had ants in our beds and when we say to the manager that this is not ok - he said that this is tropical country and is normal. The room is located next to the pool room with pumps and filters, so you can hear them all night long. The pool guy was waking us up every morning at 5:30-6:00am - not sure why he is coming at all, i will put some more info about the pool. One day we were woke up by a stranger coming into our pourch at 4:30???
pool - very dirty as well. We have 2 kids and from playing in the pool, their eyes got very red and infected!
restaurant - food is good and the staff is friendly. The breakfast is small, but they put all their effort to make it looking nice.
location - the hotel is right on the sand, but not that close to the main street
staff - the staff is very friendly to us and our kids, gave them toys to play with and pen and paper to draw with
Overall experience:
We will not come back ever again here. Despite the fact that the staff is ok, the room and infrastructure is awful. The price itself is not cheap at all, we have moved to a hotel 50m away for the same price and the hotel is AMAZING!

Read moreCha-Ba is located directly at the beach. Restaurants, Massage and even a Minimarket are within 5m walking distance.
The hotel staff is quite nice and will Support whereever they can.
Food at the nearby Restaurants is good. Local as well as international Menus are being served at a moderate price. Watch out for the happy hours.
The entrance and even the Restaurant has a special colorful Picasso-like appeareance.
The hotel room we were in had Its best years a while ago. All the installations were really old, toilets, shower, air conditioning, fridge. Air conditioning and fridge are fighting hard to make our stay comfortable but i would not call it low noise installations. The beds matress is rather hard, well not too hard but harder than in most other hotel rooms we have been to. The cleanliness of the rooms is questionable. The last maintenance works were some time ago. The door to the hotel room can be locked, but there are some open gaps for mosquitos etc. to enter the room. After sunset the mosquitos are present. There is hot water for taking a shower, but at a rather low water pressure. Hotel provides a towel for each customer. A little flask for Shampoo, a small soap and some other things. Fridge is empty so you can bring your drinks and food.
For a short stay to enjoy the beach this hotel...
Read moreWe had an excellent 2 day stay during low season at Cha-ba. We picked this resort because they are right on the beach, offering an infinity pool looking over the ocean and offered a booking option that included breakfast. Given the location, amenities and the price we paid, we feel like it was an excellent value for money. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, anything you need they will be happy to help whatever way they can with a smile. The only things to note are the air conditioner is an older unit, that and because the room is large, it takes a long time to get the room feeling cool. The other thing to note is that while the bed was very soft which is a nice change to the standard brick most Thai hotels call a mattress, it was a little bit too soft for our liking. Neither of these things bothered us that much, but just something to note of those things matter a lot to you. Bonus: we visited koh lanta for my girlfriends birthday, and at my request the staff surprised her with a small cake complete with candles and sang happy birthday to her, this made her special day that much more special and made us both feel so welcome here during our stay. Thank you so much for your hospitality, Cha cha is a...
